This set is more of a graphite or hematite black against my current black satin quilt set. It has somewhat of a silver sheen. Also if you want some decent overhang on the sides you have to turn the quilt with the design going in the same direction as the pillow shams which is not portrayed in the photos when I purchased. This is really lightweight , great for summer and washes up nicely. The pillow shams are nice, a bit narrow but well made. Both the quilt and shams are devoid of loose, hanging strings etc as is so common these days. The quilting is well done also. The price wasn't bad. Just a bit groused these weren't true black in comparison to my current set as the patterns are not the same.
