I put this on my wife's car because I thought it needed a compressor. Well it all went well and was easy to replace but when I went to put the freon in is making a loud grinding noise. I guess I will try to shim it because these Subaru compressors are notorious for having clutch tolerance issues and I'm way passed the return date. You get what you pay for. ... show more

    • Very Noisy
The media could not be loaded. Holly smokes. This thing is LOUD!!!!! I am not taking it back out yet so I am going to see if it quiets down with time but I am not getting my hopes up too much. For now it is 3 star because it actually works. I will revise my rating depending on what happens. Update! If you have a vehicle like most of the foresters that have a knock sensor, this thing will completely ruin your engine performance by being so noisy it confuses the knock sensor into thinking you have valve noise and therefor the car hesitates when the pedal is even gradually pressed and the shifting when it does happen is very jerky and abrupt. The availability of power when needed is questionable. The problems appear mainly at speeds below 45 and around 70 on the highway. Your gas consumption will also skyrocket due to the fact that the AC compressor is very noisy causing the knock sensor to pick up a false engine knock. So if the mechanic is trying to talk you into transmission or turbocharger, catalytic converter or exhaust manifold replacement DON'T DO IT!!!!! It's this piece of garbage that's causing your problems. I wonder if I can return this garbage now? ... show more
