Description

The HDX Grille Guard is the ultimate in extreme truck gear. Its a fully welded 1-piece grille guard that features full wraparound wings made of heavy duty 2" diameter tube. Uprights are finished and protected with extra wide rubber that is 1/8" thick and 2 3/4" wide resulting in a solid clean look. The full punch plate grille protects the vehicle's grille area. HDX Grille Guards are available in stainless and black powder coat finish.

Bought for 2010 Ford F150. This Westin HDX Grille Guard adds another level of attitude to my truck! Instructions were a little vague but was able to get thru it. Brackets provided for installations show that a good deal of engineering was put forth for this application. No drilling required which is how it should be!! Product appears to be well built, not that I want to test it but I will have it if needed. My truck is an FX4 4X4 with tow hooks, I was able to reuse the tow hooks. However I did have to modify the tow hooks for the mounts brakcets to fit, some extra material had to be ground off the backside of the tow hooks. So far I am very happy with the fit and appearance of the grille guard. I would buy this again. ... show more

I’ve had this on my Amazon list for awhile and finally ordered it, I’ve seen these on Ford trucks and loved the look and how well they are made. It took about 3 hours for my brother and I to install these, it comes with instructions but there was one part in the instructions that wasn’t very clear, so I called the number provided and was given the correct answer I need to finish my install, excellent customer service if you need to contact them. This grill guard is the real deal, very heavy duty. I just installed it, so I can't comment on the durability yet, but think this grille guard will handle anything I can throw at it. Before installing I read reviews on Amazon, watched Youtube videos, and downloaded the installation manual. I can confirm that the included install manual is useless. I highly recommend watching an install video from "Justin" on youtube. I didn't consult the directions once, his install video is that good. I had some issues getting the guard level to the truck, just make sure you keep all of the bolts loose until you get it where you want it. ... show more

Product came as advertised. As others have noted, the instructions provided are terrible. However, if you examine the brackets before installation, you'll be good. The lower brackets require the removal (and reinstallation if desired) of your tow hooks, but can be installed from the front of the opening without any cutting required - yes, it's tight and difficult, but can be done with a little muscle. The air dam requires cutting, but not to the extent shown in the instructions, a simple notch is more than adequate. The upper brackets go in the center opening of the bumper (the intake location for the intercooler if you have the EcoBoost). It took me about two hours total, and that included dropping and having to fish the bolt plates out of the frame twice (don't do it, but if you do, don't panic, you can see in the front of the tube above the tow hooks, and there are enough holes to get a screwdriver in to work it forward). All in all, it looks great, and well worth the price on Amazon. ... show more

I've had this Grill Guard on my 2014 F150 for about 3 months now. I wanted to have it on for awhile before writing my review. As far as the installation I did most of it alone. It took me around three and a half hours and a lot of patients. For all you looking to install this guard on a 2011 to 2014 F150 you will have to do some trimming around the tow hook openings (you do get to keep your tow hooks with this guard). You will be trimming only plastic and I can't tell you a real easy way to do this. I used tin snips, coping saw, and a dremel tool. The dremel tool worked best for me, trimming a little at a time until it fit perfectly (this was about a hour or more of the install time). As for the instructions, they are not very good at all. I got the best directions off of Youtube. As for the Grill Guard, it is heavy duty and I love the look of it on my FX4 (photo attached). I get tons of compliments on it. This is not one of those cheap guards that are just for looks, this thing will take a hit. It does not vibrate or move while driving on the road. If your wanting a Grill Guard that will do more than look good this is the one for you!!!! ... show more

Quality materials. Poor workmanship. I had to add washers to drivers side to lower that side. 3 of the 4 cross rails are now level. Sent pics at their request. Not one word back from them after a few emails. Not good customer service. I'd probably buy a Ranch Hand next time.

Very solid construction. Installs ONLY to the frame rail. No contact with any non-reenforced part on the truck. Easy installation. It does take a bit of knowledge to install. I did NOT have tow hooks, and my lower valance was different than in the instructions, but a quick zip with a rotary tool rectified that. It looks great and it functions (I hope) well to deflect any deer that might decide my truck is the truck they want to suicide on. Westin made a great product with superb fit. 1 star off for the horrible instructions for the DIY installer. ... show more

I did some research and after seeing the positive reviews on this model I went with it. I installed on my 2012 Ford F150 XLT in about 4 hours by myself. The hardest part was understanding the instructions because the pictures are so dark you can't see what's going on. You can figure it out on your own if you stare at it long enough, or there is a youtube video with a guy from Texas who goes through and shows you the installation. I would recommend having someone there to at least mount it because it is somewhat hefty to hold and put the hardware on. The hardest part for me was getting the bumper stud on the inside brackets installed and back into place. If you're debating it, just go for it, it looks great. I can't wait to see how it holds up against a deer. Also I recommend just removing your air dam instead of cutting it up to fit. ... show more
