    • New Holy Grail Nighttime Face Moisturizer

I have been using this as a face moisturizer at night, and it has completely transformed my skin. I live in SoCal, and the weather is in the middle of changing. Yesterday we had 5% humidity, temperature has been vacillating between the high 80s and low 50s. My skin is unbelievably dry, especially my face. As a total skincare junkie, I’ve been using two different types of moisturizer, straight Argan oil, Marine Hyaluronics by The Ordinary, and rosewater. Nothing worked. My undereyes were peeling. My foundation and concealer caught every single dry spot to the extent that I couldn’t wear makeup without looking like I had a peeling sunburn underneath. I was just about fed up when I Googled “best moisturizer for dry skin” and this came up. This is a new holy grail. The (Mild) Downsides: The smell is not phenomenal, a bit like paint, almost. It scared me at first, but I have very sensitive skin, and it hasn’t irritated it. I believe the smell is natural. I also get reactive breakouts to some products, but not this, so even though it’s thicker than acrylic paint, fear not. That brings me to my next point— this is THICK. Very, very thick, and depending on the temperature, difficult to spread. I usually just take the opportunity to massage my face, but once I get to the thin eye area I swap to a patting motion OR cut it with some Argan oil. It feels sticky but once it sinks in it really isn’t. It may be best to think of it as an overnight mask, or in very thin layers, a primer. This will make your skin incredibly happy and hydrated, but it will also make you shine like a freshly waxed floor if you lay it on thick during the day. A little does go a long way, but it’s tough to get that little to go the way. All downsides have been 200% worth it for me. My skin is no longer peeling at all. My light coverage foundation goes on the way you see in commercials. My concealer is working without issue. My skin feels plump and not-fatigued. I have even been able to return to using my retinol and glycolic acid in spite of the extremely dry weather, and my skin is STILL happy and moisturized. I could not recommend this enough if you’re at a loss with dry skin, and if you aren’t afraid of stickiness, lay it on thick and sleep in it. ... show more

This is a really positive review because this body cream has so many great features. The fact that it can be applied anywhere gives it an edge. The plant-rich ingredients ensure natural care for your skin. Loved that it doesn't contain any synthetic fragrances or preservatives. It's free from phthalates and parabens which is a huge relief.     • It REALLY works and is worth the money!

This product is game changer! It's pricey for the size, but well worth it for effectiveness of healing dry, chapped hands and feet. It's a thick cream, so a little goes a long way, and it really does seem to nourish the skin. Because it's so effective, I don't need to use it every single day. Also makes a great holiday stocking stuffer for the person with dry skin issues. I gave 5 stars because the product really is great, but the down side is that the packaging, which I'm sorry to say is impressively disappointing. The tube is small and made of a thick type of plastic that does not squeeze or bend very well when the product gets low. To make matters worse, the lid does not twist off! Come on Weleda...Really??!! This makes it very difficult to try and get the most of what's in there as its running low. Grandma's arthritic old hands will not do well with this! My solution is to cut off the bottom of the tube to get what's inside, (which is quite a bit!). I then wrap the entire tube REALLY WELL with plastic wrap, which keeps it fresh to the very last drop, if done properly. I don't mind doing this with most things as they get towards the end, since its just another few days of use, but the thickness of the tube material seems to cause this phase to occur prematurely with Skin Food...meaning that I'm doing the plastic wrap routine for longer than I should have to for what I paid! I should have given 3 stars because of this, but I didn't want people who could really benefit from it to turn away. I have found the product to be very effective, its actually the only thing that's ever worked well for me and been worth recommending. This moisturizer seems great so far! Only used for a few days. I have heard amazing things about it and wanted to try it. It has a great smell to it that is not over powering. It is a very thick creamy substance, almost like a thick balm. Can be a little hard to rub in because it is so thick but I like it. Doesn't seem to make you oily either ... show more

I like the herbal scent and how moisturizing this cream is, but it is SOO thick. It makes it very hard to spread, and even though I know it doesn't clog pores, I can't bring myself to use it as a facial lotion due to the thickness. I use it mostly on my body wherever I have issues with dryness.
