  • It works, but ...
I like the whole idea of this product: The Walkstool is an excellent product but the Walkstool Steady makes a great product even more so by enhancing its stability and longevity, not to mention its ability to be used on soft ground. The problem I have is with the execution of the product. Its not cheap (neither is the Walkstool), nor is it cheaply made... the cloth used for the Steady is quite sturdy. But the design of it is clearly not meant to be a best-of-breed solution, which is what the Walkstool essentially is. For example: The Steady covers the rubber feet of the Walkstool - meaning that now you and your body weight are digging the cloth into the ground, where that ground could be smooth grass ... or rough concrete. I'm sure the cloth will last as long as cloth can last in such a situation, but would it have been so tough to sew on a thick, flat rubber patch at the point of contact with the ground? Obviously the product designers are thoughtful people so I have to conclude that rather than not getting tis idea ... they cheaped out and so we have cloth feet on the Walkstool now. Worse than that though is the attachment mechanism. You shove the feet into a fold in the end of the individual strap. As you'll see from doing it this is a tenuous connection at best. The use of a shock cord and tightener to snug up the connection of the two is of only marginal utility. The result: If you want to leave the Steady attached to your Walkstool so all you have to do is flip it open to use it... well, given that the Walkstool is something you are liable to toss into your trunk or backpack and drag out on a moment's notice... its not going to be as simple to use as it once was. Especially since you can't fit the Walkstool with the assembled Steady into the carry bag. It has to go legs-out-of-the-bag to fit. None of this is the end of the world. But it makes for an annoyance every time you bring the thing out since you have to fuss with it to get everything re-situated every time you use it. ... show more

  • Using it with comfort stool on beach during surf fishing tournaments... so far so good.
Quality material and craftsmanship. It attaches to the very bottom of each leg when stool legs are fully extended. It purpose is to prevent the legs from going too deep into the sand. It works as designed. I give it 4 stars rather than 5 only because if you don't have the straps pulled tight enough, they can fall off. I discovered this after I picked up my stool a few times to move it to another spot on the beach - two of the straps came off and I had to re-attach to bottom of leg. Not a big deal. The real test, however, can only come with time - to see how well this can hold up after a few seasons of being used in sand and salt water. ... show more

  • Nylon peace of mind
This accessory provides physical and mental security to the walkstool. A critic would say, " if the walkstool is as good as they say, then why do I need a fidgity strap? " It's a valid point. Too, since the strap is at ground level, it will get just as dirty and wet as the ground itself. So, what's the point in buying a nylon strap that requirement for the and will get soiled? I believe that of all the portable seating choices available, the walkstool fits a need for a certain type of buyer. The buyer does not want the stool to fail at ant time because every instinct tells you that a hinged 3 legged stool is going to break. So, the nylon straps serve to transfer some of the strain on the hinge to the straps. It's an imperfect world except for gravity, which always seems to work. I bought the strap for the same reason you will. The good news is that it is not junk. The bad news is that it is walkstools tacit admission that their collapsible stools are not perfect. ... show more

  • OK, but NOT AS "STEADY"/SAFE as I would have liked.
I would say it's easy to put on; reminds me of the kind of attachment one would use in camping. I am using it on "dry land", that is, as an extra safety measure when visiting someone in the hospital (a slick floor). If I pay attention and make sure I put it on correctly and try to tighten it enough, it will stay; but it's not reliable. You DO have to check (the attachments) each time, to make sure you have every one of the three tight enough on each of the legs.. I wish that it would be a more stable attachment to the stool. I don't know what that would be. I am not sure I feel safer with this because of the relative unreliability of the attachment. Perhaps I need to tie it twice if possible. OR I will see if there is something else I can add. IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO MAKE IT MORE SECURE, i.e, that it won't loosen so readily, PLEASE WRITE! THANKS! Love the WALKSTOOL though! (PLEASE PASS ON TO THE WALKSTOOK COMPANY: I THINK IT COULD BE IMPROVED IF THE LEGS CLICKED IN PLACE WHEN OPENING UP THE SEAT. It's easy to fall if you are not careful. THE LEGS CLICK IN PLACE (AND it's observable with the red button) WHEN YOU EXTEND THE LEGS, but not the "seat" when it is opened up. You really can't tell if you have it in place correctly. If you make a mistake, you could fall off. Don't know if it's possible to add a "click"/safety measure with this design.) ... show more

  • Perfect for keeping the stool from sinking
Love this. I use the stool for disc golf. I attached this to keep from sinking into the sand and mud. Works great. Great combo, wish it was included with the stool. Highly recommend

  • A Worthy Companion for the Walkstool Comfort
I wrote a review of the Walkstool 55cm/22in. Model and purchased this Walksteady along with it. It didn't take long to install and found out quickly that it instantly adds more support to an already great product. After you install it you will probably not want to remove once you use it without. After my first Walkstool snapped at the knuckle after 4 years of hard use ( I'm 300+ pounds), I'm glad I bought this. It will help with wearing the rubber feet as the heavy webbing will protect it a long time. If it does wear out, $25 is much cheaper than 3 rubber feet and a broke knuckle. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@UPDATE@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ After much use on concrete floors at work, I noticed the strap that goes under the bottom of the legs would slip off. After looking close I noticed one of the rope tighten enters had broke loose and was not keeping the rope secure to the foot. I am going to try using the Nite Ize Figur 9 Small Rope Tightener to see if they work better.. stay tuned...... ... show more
