The bars look nice and seem solid enough. That said, keep in mind they're 6061 aluminum, which is just general purpose aluminum. I would not recommend these for hard trail riding/mountain biking. For that, you'll probably want something made with 7050. Also, the center-line markings on these bars were not center or level. I had to center them myself with a tape measure. This by itself is just a minor QC issue, but it does leave one wondering if corners were cut anywhere else. If you do a search online, you'll find a couple instances of these bars breaking on people. Both instances I found involved riding that was more intense than just leisurely riding, so I'm not exceptionally worried. I use mine for riding around town and the occasional dirt path, but no hard mountain biking. The main reason I bought these is I was looking for a red bar, and I didn't find too many red options. One alternative was the Raceface Atlas bars, which are 7050 aluminum, but also 3x the price. If you think you'll do hard riding, then that may be worth the consideration. Normally you get what you pay for. Well, other bars this width are around $50. These are a nice feeling aluminum, not super heavy, and fit perfectly. I'm 260lbs and they don't have any "give" to them either. I ride hard and they're doing just fine. I have another set on order just to have on hand for other bikes or whatever. ... show more

I added this to a 2012 cross-country MTB hardtail bike. I did this at the same time I swap stems. Applying down-hill (DH) geometry, I raise the bar up as high as I could and moved it as far back as I could (with a short stem). The curved rise in the bars helped in addition to the steering tube that I purposely left long when I installed it years ago. Unlike a road bike, you do not want your weight over the front tire on a MTB. This totally revived a bike that I though was well past it's time. I was going to place this on a newer bike, but after seeing a report of a Wake bar fail on the web, I held off. I had a bar fail on me. It was carbon. So learning metal bars can fail too was shocking. This bar is holding up. I'm a heavy adult. And one reason I don't do air. But I am confident that Wake got it right and has made a good bar that I can trust. BTW, my aluminum 2012 Gary Fisher Trek is light and awesome and as capable as any newer carbon hard-tail MTB. It has acceptable looks for me but the most important thing is that cost / performance ratio is great!. My bike is XC hardtail with a long distance and low grip position from saddle. I felt too much weight on my hands and too much forward / low position that made descending and hitting obstacles feel like going over the bars. First I shortened my stem and it was an improvement. Then with this handlebar I got a higher grip position that has added very much to comfort and confidence. Definitely happy with the end result so far. With the attached pictures, you can have an idea about the difference in hand position, actually it was an inch taller vs the standard close to flat bar. WAY BETTER ! ... show more

Just got this. I love it. seems to be very light. My only problem is its not blue. Its close. Looks almost turquoise. Definitely has a little green in it. This is the beginning of a total rehab for on old Schwinn. Assuming I get to the paint phase. The color issue will alter my color selection when I paint the bike. The only reason I am not more angry is because I knew the color would probably not match what was on the screen, and I was prepared for that. I was a bit skeptical buying this product looking at the price compared to known brands. But this absolutely performs upto what is required. I ride trails with about 2 foot drops and this totally "handles" it. Totally load the front wheel in down hill turns through tree root corners, no problems there either. These bars were either factory seconds or they suffer from terrible quality control . Mine had the logos printed completely crooked as well as the important center degree marks used to align the bars for center and rise .( they were off by almost 1/2 inch off center ) I am going to be sending them back for a name brand . ... show more

780 was the perfect width to fit my fat tire bike. I bough these and a wake stem at the same time, so no issues with compatibility. Plenty wide for my cockpit, and everything doesn’t feel cramped anymore. The width makes it easier to control as well. I love the blue color, and it really makes my bike pop! I don’t see any reason to buy more expensive bars. I do mostly bike path trails, nothing technical, so it’s the perfect bar for my needs. ... show more
