Description

Power steering, aggressive wheel alignment geometry, wider wheels and lower profile tyres have all put radically increased loadings on the steering systems of modern cars. Add to that engine bat contaminants such as oil leaks that also help to degrade the performance of steering rack mount bushings. Whiteline steering rack mounts are engineered to outlast and enhance steering precision and feedback.

Fit my USA Spec 2004 Toyota 4Runner SR5 rack, but instructions were not very clear.

  • 2007 Lexus GX470 - Fit perfectly, good quality
I completely removed the steering rack from my vehicle and installed these because my factory bushings were loose at 120K miles. The rack moved back and forth about 1/4" when lightly turning the wheel even with vehicle off. It was about a four hour job. Once the rack is off the car, work a flat chisel under the edge of the factory bushing lips and work them loose...alternate with channel locks, pry bar, and chisel. You're basically knocking the old rubber off so you can get the inner metal bushing part off by eventually twisting it with channel locks. The factory bushings are also two pieces each. There will be a lot of rubber from the old bushings stuck to the inside of the rack. Don't waste time scraping the old rubber out, it's on the inside of the old bushing's outer metal sleeve. Halfway down through the hole, where the two bushing part meet, use a flat punch and knock each half of the old bushing's outer metal sleeve out. This took about 15 minutes...the one closest to the steering pinion took longer. The holes will be new and shiny and you'll be able to insert the new bushings by hand, then reinstall rack. The bushings are two different sizes. They appear to be good quality and I didn't want a Chinese knock-off or a rebuilt rack on my truck because my factory Toyoda (yes, spelled with a d) rack wasn't leaking and was working like a champ. The GX470 is a 120 series Toyota and this should be an identical setup to any 4Gen 4Runners. Good luck! ... show more

  • Fit our 2004 v8 4runner
These fit perfectly in our 2004 US Toyota 4runner V8 Sport. Made a big difference. Check the package when you get it. There should be 2 of each size bushing, I received 3 of one size and 1 of the other. The company quickly fixed the problem. I'd order again.
