  • Great tool
If you are not familiar with Ring and Pinion set up, learn the basics first. There are some bad reviews related to not understanding how to use it. This tool is not intended to teach you how. This tool is very effective for determining pinion position.. It provides an accurate method for obtaining the pinion position on many axle models. I definitely will be recommending it to a lot of people. As a former trainer for the Dana Corporation Axle Classes, This tool provides an inexpensive alternative to the very costly tools of the past. It simply gets the job done. I did have a problem, as some have indicated in the negative reviews, with the dial indicator. It was very rough. I contacted Proform and had a new indicator in no time. I would not reduce the number of "Stars" just because of that. This tool is too good to mislead someone over a defective dial indicator that Proform made right immediately. Great company, great tool, great price. Bob ... show more

  • Great bang for the buck! Great bang for the buck!
Set up is a little touchy but once it’s set up it works awesome. Takes all the guess and trial and error work out of setting up your pinion. Perfect tooth pattern after the first adjustment. Similar tool from Snapon is $600. Worth the set up time.

  • Tool is trash
The calibration tube was too long for the extension rods. This tool has no chance of working if I can't calibrate it and it's put me behind now waiting for a better brand. This is the absolute worst tool I've bought in many years.

  • Read instructions
Not real hard to figure out how use could be made with a few more holes

  • Will work with proper attention to detail
I did not actually use this tool but I did inspect it. I did see how it was supposed to work. There were some good instructions provided and if you take the time to follow the instructions, and check your work, this tool will absolutely work for fraction of the price of other pinion depth tools with a little bit more math and a little bit more work. ... show more

  • Poor fitment of pin
Indicator works as expected, though I am unable to get the 3 inch extension pin to thread into the indicator. It slips right in and out. Threads don't even touch the indicator. Its impossible to get an accurate reading due to a defective part. The shorter pins did thread in better than the long one, but no chance to set up a differential correctly with out the longer pin. ... show more

  • Pinion Setter
This product arrived very quickly and came in a great storage box. It works very well, although the picture makes it look like the extensions are all connected, be asured that they are not. Good quality, works as designed. Would recommend this product to those needing to measure their rear end.
