I purchased these in a size 12 as that is my shoe size, but they run really big, so I had to return them for a size 11, which fits perfectly. Once I received them, I took them to my local custom skate shop and purchased a high quality skate plate, wood wheels, and bones Swiss bearings. Entire setup cost about $640, including the boots.     • Godfather VS Riedell OG
Size: 12 Color: Black
I decided to write this review after being a happy owner of the Godfather for about 3 years. They ultimately were stolen out of my vehicle after that time & I had to decide if I’d get a new pair or make the more costly jump to the Riedell OG (The Godfather is the top competing brand/model of the OG). Since I’m an avid skater & always felt the Godfather was slightly too wide for my foot (I’m a woman with a medium width foot), I decided to invest in the OG & see if I could get a better fit. Although both the OG & Godfather are accurate men’s sizing (I’m a women’s 8 & a men’s 6 in both boots), I found the OG to be a better, more snug fit even though it’s technically a D width boot. I will say the Godfather is a great quality leather boot. They didn’t compromise on quality one bit. Overall, after having both of these boots, I would choose the OG. Riedell is obviously the roller skating gold standard. But my choice wasn’t based on name alone. The OG package comes with a Neo Reactor plate. If you get the Godfather package, it’s the nylon Gorilla plate. The difference is night & day! Neo Reactor wins, hands down. It’s like driving a Cadillac vs an Escort. The way the OG boot fits is a much better tailored fit. It molds to the contours of your foot a lot better & leaves no room for your foot to slide around. With the Godfather I found myself clamping my toes to keep my foot stable. Overall the Godfather is still a great choice on a mid priced skate. I don’t regret having these at all. Someone stole my OG's. I was in the store to replace them and tried on this boot. I purchased a 7 men's and I wear women's 10. Perfect fit. My feet and ankles swell so these fit better than my Riedells. If you are on the fence. Amazon's price for under $300 is worth it for a try before upscaling.

The media could not be loaded. so let me start by saying i actually bought these from my local skating rink! overall these skates are sooo worth it!! i typically wear a women’s size 9 or 9 1/2. my skates are a size 7!! these skates are really comfortable and i’ve had them for about a year now. definitely would re-buy in different colors!! So I ordered the actual boot skates from my rink but I’ll just review the boot. So first things first, they are soooo comfortable! I wear a size 9.5 wide women’s shoe so I got a size 8 in these. They were a little long but still fit perfectly because I have wide feet. If I had narrow feet a size 7 would have been suitable. I skated for five hours and my feet didn’t hurt at all. So comfy. They are stitched throughout the sole even on the bottom of the boot. Extremely, exceptionally well made leather. Great maneuverability. I might just buy the boot just to wear. The boot isn’t heavy in my opinion. My other skates are artistic leather boots (smaller) with metal plates and are way heavier than these are with their nylon plates. I can easily one leg skate/dance with ease. The shearling tongue feels so good and the leather is malleable. It is already creasing on the side after one wear but I don’t care. The stitching is absolutely fantastic. I apologize for not being more technical but it is a very well-made boot. The rest of what I would have to say would be in regards to skating in it and the plate and stock wheels and it will be easier just to go over to that page and make a review for those wheels. I highly recommend these and I really wish they would advertise them more because they’re really great. I’m only the second person at my rink to even have them. No one else even knew VNLA made a boot like this. Up the advertising game VNLA! ... show more
