Five years later, I bought them again — this time in Griege

I originally bought these ankle boots in black in 2021, and that pair has been one of the best pairs of ankle boots I have owned. My long-term experience in this review is based on that black pair. When I recently noticed the same boot was available in Griege, I ordered another pair. The Griege pair has already arrived, fits and feels like the pair I know, and I am really happy with the color. It is very neutral and easy to coordinate, but still has enough color to make it more interesting than a basic black or brown boot. What I like: • Surprisingly comfortable for a dressier-looking ankle boot • Enough cushioning and support that I can comfortably do a lot of walking in them • Low block heel gives them a dressier look without making them difficult to walk or stand in • Lace-up design lets me adjust the fit depending on whether I am wearing regular or somewhat thicker socks • Once I have the laces adjusted, the side zipper makes them extremely easy to get on and off • Roomy enough through the toe area to be comfortable without looking bulky • Laces, zipper and hardware on my original black pair have all held up very well • No problems with the seams, sole or zipper after years of wear • Easy to dress up or down with jeans, casual pants, slacks or dress pants • Especially nice as a fall boot because they give a little more warmth and coverage without feeling like a heavy winter boot • Griege is an especially versatile neutral and works with a wide range of clothing colors • Stylish enough that I was happy to purchase the exact same boot again years later One of the best tests of my original black pair was a long weekend in New York City in early December. I knew we would be doing a lot of walking, so I had purchased several pairs of boots beforehand trying to find something comfortable enough for the trip. These won out. I ended up bringing only these boots and a pair of sneakers, and that was all I needed for the entire winter city trip. I wore the boots through the airport, walking around the city, to dinners and to the theater. They gave me a dressier option when sneakers weren’t what I wanted to wear, while still being comfortable enough for a surprising amount of walking. Things to be aware of: • The upper has a suede-like finish, so I do not treat these as boots for soaking-wet or slushy conditions • I believe I treated my black pair with shoe protectant, which I generally do with this type of material, but protectant can only do so much • I find them most useful for fall and for cool, dry winter weather rather than as a true snow or rain boot • Because they are ankle boots, I personally prefer them with pants. I generally would not choose this particular style with a skirt unless the skirt were long enough that the top of the boot was not prominent Overall: These have earned a solid 5 stars from me. My original black pair has been comfortable, versatile and dependable since 2021, including through trips with a significant amount of walking. The combination of adjustable laces, easy side zipper, low stable heel and cushioning makes them much more comfortable than I originally expected from a dressier ankle boot. They are also just about the perfect type of boot for fall — enough coverage for cooler weather, easy to dress up or down, and not so heavy that they feel like a true winter boot. The fact that I came back years later and bought the same boots again in Griege probably says the most. The new pair feels just as comfortable so far, the color is a really attractive neutral, and I am very happy to have a second pair.

First of all, I was skeptical about buying shoes online because I can never even find the right ones in stores, but boy was I surprise. These shoe boots are PERFECT! I am a size 6 and this fit was absolutely true to size. They are so comfortable and non-slip so that's a plus for me. I love these shoes and are planning to get another color! I’ve been looking for “NAVY” boots for over two years - I found them!

I’ve tried on over a dozen “navy” boots over the past two years - they might say “navy” but ever single one has been so dark I could hardly tell the difference if they were black or navy! These boots are ACTUALLY navy. I did size down half a size (I usually have to size UP half a size for boots!) but so glad I did because I LOVE these REALLY cute boots. All my toes have room (probably a first!) love that you can adjust the tightness over a higher instep (or tighten) with laces and I love the side zip so I can get my foot in (my instep is high so a lot of boots I can’t even get my foot in!) I was so excited about these boots that I wore them the first day I got them (I usually walk around my house for a while to make sure a shoe is going to be comfortable - these were comfortable the minute I put them on!) I have worn them two days in a row and I did prefer a thicker (no show) sock for comfort. The inside of the left shoe feels like it is rubbing against my ankle but it doesn’t leave a mark - I might just buy no-show socks that are a little higher to cover my ankles. I don’t usually buy “suede/fabric” boots as I’m hard on shoes so we’ll see how these fare - I’m thinking about rain-proofing them…? Did I say, I L💙VE L💙VE L💙VE these boots!
