I am an amchure. pro astronomer. I youse it as a scentdary. telescope. to my prmiary 12 in I have in my observatory. I built. in my backyard yes it's a little. flimsy in the tripod can see some creators. on the moon with it see the blue hase around the moon so that was good just cought the meteor shower tonight. never doing that again. becuse it looked so close also got to see a planet. with it. I think I confirmed it was, juptur with my bigger telescope. yes it was kind of blured. but. that's expected with a 60x to120x I am thinking about byeing extra eye pices up to 800x maybe 1000x, but over all when it's zeroed. in you can see enuff stuff. so I don't see where it is that bad like I said it's $50.00 list price. so it is worth 14.99.and it has standerd. lenes. so sum upgrading is possible so my review is 5 stars. and all I have to say is street it like a tool like every out her telscope ... show more

  • Great!
Every look up at the stars at night and wonder whats really out there? Have you ever laid on the grass at 3am and watched a meteor shower? Have you ever looked up at the moon and wished that just for one moment in time you could be up there? I have done all those things... I have loved the galaxy and stars and the moon my entire life.. I - sadly - have never owned a telescope before now (I'm 37 - pretty sad right?) I LOVE this telescope! It is so lightweight, and easy to carry! The tripod folds up nicely for great portability! To be honest I had never even looked through a telescope before purchasing this one. I bought it for my 8 year old son... He didn't really like it - so I use it! I am always looking at the moon a lot closer now! I hope that some day when my son is a little older, he'll get half the enjoyment out of this that I do... I think all kids would really love it if they wanted to! Super fast shipping and a wonderful telescope in general! Thank you! ... show more

  • Good budget purchase.
This is a good telescope for viewing the moon or bird watching. Don't expect a lot out of it, it's not going to get deep space views. I didn't want to spend a ton of money on something I wasn't sure my son was going to use. However, he is excited with it and we will be upgrading him soon. You can buy extra eyepieces and lenses for it. ... show more

  • TRASH!! DO NOT BUY IT!! SPEND THE EXTRA ON A REAL ONE
trash... this isn't even fit for a kid as a toy. First off mine came broken in the box, the mount for the tripod was at the bottom of the box in 3 pieces, no biggie i can fix that. then when assembling it the tripod leg bent and the lock screws for the eye peace fell out. after rigging that.. the damn thing will not focus, well that is because the lenses fell apart. Just go spend your money on something better and don't be cheap like me. it was only 15 bucks but totally not worth it. ... show more

  • Works but a little flimsy
Good starter but not high quality. Takes a little finesse to focus and tripod is flimsy and wobbles a lot, but works

  • A newbie
This is first telescope I've even attempted to use..it was easy to assemble and instructions were easy to read. I got a really awesome view of Saturn on my first try. Very lightweight

  • May inspire the next Galileo, you never know!
If you have never owned a telescope then this is a fantastic place to start. You can at least see if there is an interest for you or a member of your family. The eyepieces are .965, which is quickly becoming "old and obsolete" although there is one eyepiece kit you can purchase here on amazon that fits. We use this for Moon gazing mostly but the occasional views of Jupiter and Saturn are small but very exciting. You can see the rings of Saturn on a clear dark night and all four of the main satellites of Jupiter. These "cheap" scopes are usually considered trash by most but can be gold to someone who has never experienced the heavens through a lens. ... show more
