My brother passed away a few years ago. He was proud of his record collection. Another family member (let’s call him gAHg) left his records in the uninsulated Florida garage for a couple years. After getting the albums out of harms way, I decided to buy a turntable and revive my brother’s pride and joy. I bought a mid-range turntable and quickly realized I needed to clean the records before I could play any of them without damaging the stylus. So I looked online and bought this kit to clean records not knowing anything about the process. It has the essentials for keeping your vinyl clean. This kit is great for the basics and I highly recommend it for a light cleaning and removing superficial dust and fingerprints. However, I have several records that have been neglected for years and require a much deep clean than this kit can provide. That is no fault of this kit. I’m a novice and now looking to learn more about how to deep clean records. While this kit might not be my answer to deep cleaning, I still highly recommend this kit for keeping LP records in tip top shape because it has everything you need in one box. ... show more

Looking for value for your money? This set performs. I was looking for a velvet brush like I had in High School and this one is as good as the one I had way back when. The real surprise is the nylon fiber brush. I expected to toss it in a drawer but I find it is soft and pliable on vinyl which is a must. I like that it included a stylus brush and bag, but the set looks good sitting out next to my turntable so I will probably use it for something else.     • Velvet brush not made correctly
The overall package was a good deal but the velvet brush did not have the velvet mounted correctly on the holder. I have had velvet brushes before to clean records and the velvet always has a grain direction. This way when you clean the record, the velvet fibers make contact against the grain to clean the record better. The velvet on holder was mounted 90 degrees off from where it should be. The only way to clean the record against the grain of the velvet is to hold the short side of the velvet brush in the direction of the grooves instead of the full width of the brush in the direction of the grooves. My Discwasher brush from the 80s had the velvet grain correct and I also checked a Crosley velvet brush at Walmart and it had the grain direction correct. Either defective of the manufacturer does not know this important fact. Also, like other reviewers, the cleaning solution bottle was leaky and all wet when I got it. ... show more

    • Great vinyl cleaning kit.
THIS IS IT! This record cleaning brush and liquid spray cleaner actually does what it is advertised to do. The very fine bristles, though soft, fully removed all the dirt and dust in and outside the grooves. Though I generally take care of my albums, the brush and cleaner produced an added level of clean. The proof was in the before and after sound of my music. With the record spinning on the platter after just 3 spot sprays allowed the handheld brush to effectively do its job. Only 30 seconds of holding the brush (not heavy handed), while moving it back and forth toward the center gets the grooves clean. WORTH IT! ... show more

Great affordable kit with everything you need to keep your vinyls clean. The nylon fiber brush and the velvet brush has an elegant vintage look that I absolutely love, now I can display them next to my turntable instead of tucking them away when not in use. The large brushes cleaned my (very dirty) records nicely and are comfortable to use, but keep in mind the velvet one may be a bit large for small hands (read: for women). The stylus brush does the job. I never had a decent one to compare it with, but looking through a lupe the stylus looks nice and clean. The only con is the bag, it's too small to comfortably hold the entire kit inside. You *can* fit everything in, it's just very tight. If one of the larger brushes is not in it, it safely stores the other one, which is especially handy for the tiny stylus brush that's so easy to misplace otherwise. I haven't tried the cleaning fluid just yet, since I use a simple record washer for wet cleaning. The Vinyl Buddy stylus brush, that's included in this kit, is normally $9, and similar nylon fiber or velvet brushes start at about $7, so this kit offers great value in good quality. This kit works well. I brush to get the big chunks and then the velvet brush to get any dust that didn't come off with the brush. "sound quality" seems an odd thing to rate for a thing that doesn't make any sound, but a clean LP definitely sounds better than a dirty one. Even tiny dust motes will pop when the LP is played, so you want those removed. I've just pulled my LPs out of storage and am really enjoying listening to them as I get them cleaned up. I was recently given a turntable to replace one that died, years ago. I hooked it up to my old sound system from the 80’s, then pulled out some old favorite LPs to play. They looked horrible- so dirty I didn’t want to risk playing them in that state. Went online, read reviews and price checked... and went with the vinyl buddy kit. I used the kit, put on Elton John’s Funeral for a Friend, and crossed my fingers. It sounded like a new LP. It was amazing. This is a fantastic product.
