  • Nice, bright and featured rich monitor for gaming, movies and editing (Would be great if flawless)
Style: 27-Inch 165Hz 2K
This review is for the XG270Q. I purchased 3. They arrived on time and the packaging was undamaged, although one came with packing tape sealing it the other 2 didn't. The good: The monitors are bright, the color space and depth accurate and good, and 2K resolution well done and you get 165hz through the Display port. 144hz thru the HDMI. Would've been nice if it was 165hz as well. However, as an FYI, when connecting to the HDMI ports you can get 4K@60hz (sometimes it happens and they don't market it for its full capabilities) which is great for photo editing and even console gaming. There is matte finish on the display. The build quality is good, and the base is not too big, nice looking and sturdy. The monitors can be easily raised, tilted, swiveled, and rotated. The added features for a headset hanger, mouse cable guides (which there are 2, one on each side), RGB on the back and underneath the bottom bezel, (which could be brighter maybe but I haven't really tested any good situations for it yet) and USB hub are nice touches that enhance your gaming or desk setup, helping to keep your peripherals organized and look spiffy. In the case of the hub it adds more USB ports for your setup. The HDR is there, not HDR1000 ( this monitor is HDR400) but you notice the difference. It is G-Sync compatible, as my laptop notified me that a G-Sync compatible display was attached and you enable it Nvidia settings. This is just as good as monitors that have G-sync only modules, since it allows for Free sync as well and is less expensive. The bezels on top and sides are narrow and the bottom is not too bad. Overall I like what these monitors have to offer a lot. The On screen menu is fairly easy to use; wish they used another interface to navigate the menu than the joystick knob manufacturers are fond of using. The Bad: 2 monitors have 1 stuck pixel each (not dead pixels) and the other one has 2 stuck pixels. They are not dead center but close to it. So QC/QA isn't 100% and these are relatively expensive monitors and Viewsonic is a reputable company known for nice and quality displays. There are no other physical issue with them, and the light bleeding is pretty close to non-existent but now I am wondering with what ifs. Do more pixels get stuck or are there other issues that may arise. So check everything out before your 30 days expire, which mine hasn't yet. And keep the boxes in case something does arise before the 30 days. So 4 stars. The other issue, which is common with many monitors is that when certain settings are enabled other settings are blocked from customizing. Like I said before I haven't gone through all the settings but it would nice to be able to change settings slightly when selecting a certain mode or enabling Adaptive sync. I'm sure they optimize it but everyone has different eyes. This isn't a deal breaker though. This a great monitor if it's flawless. ... show more

  • This is what the reviews won't tell you
Style: 27-Inch 165Hz 2K
Okay, the screen is great technologically, but I have to share some experiences with you so you're not surprised, because it's not cheap. First, the good. Okay, I'll spare you my life story, but suffice it to say that there was NO BIGGER SKEPTIC than me about high refresh rates. And now there's no bigger convert. It's not just the refresh rate, it's also the response time. I replaced a 27" 1440p screen with this one, also 27" and 1440p. I had them side by side and moved a window-mode game from one to the other. The difference is crazy, and yes, once you get used to it, it's REALLY hard to go back. I drive it with an RTX 3080 right now, and I can tell when G-SYNC kick in because I can see the frame rate drops, but no tearing at all. The bad: one minor (or medium), and one that is either nothing or a huge concern. First, it bleeds. It's not a manufacturing defect (I don't think) because it bleeds very uniformly from everywhere, most noticeable in the corners. There is no angle or position where there's no bleed. It's usually not noticeable, but when it's dark (in the room, and in the game) it's pretty obvious. My old one is the ASUS PB278Q, also an IPS panel, and it does much better in this regard. The second issue is that on two or three occasions now, I've had burn-in. This TERRIFIED me. I noticed it only when I leave it on with an element on the screen that's at 100% brightness. Luckily it went away after a few minutes of "generic" use, but it has happened a few times. It's never a game, always something else (website, etc.) but it makes me wonder if UI elements of games (which don't move) are slowly burning themselves in and I'm just not seeing it yet. Very scary. ... show more

  • From 24” 240hz 1080p to this…
Style: 32-Inch 175Hz 2K
So I was a little worried when I bought this monitor because I’ve previously bought a big monitor like this and the colors were not good now let me tell you you do you have to make some adjustments in the settings but once you get those to your liking the colors and the brightness of this monitor even without the HDR on is insane it’s really good I haven’t used too many of the newer monitors this monitor is really good it’s really bright the difference between this and my 240 her monitor I really can’t tell that much of a different difference even in super competitive games I don’t see a difference really I know there is a difference there there’s a little bit of a there’s a little bit of a delay as compared to a 240 Hz panel but this is such a bigger panel and it’s a 165 Hz but the colors are so much better and the screen is so much brighter that even if there was more input lag which I don’t feel any input lag the only lag I feel is when I’m moving really fast I’m not getting the four smooth motion that I would get on a 240 Hz panel with a video card that can drive it with this I feel that is a limited just a little bit but I don’t care because I’m not super high competitive and I enjoy the brightness and the colors of this monitor versus the smaller screen in the washed out colors and a super Duper responsive time ... show more
