  • What to know before ordering - but do order!
I've purchased many Five Fingers over the past 10 years, even though they last a long time. I have discovered that any of the shoes based on the KSO Evo sole pattern run small. In the product image, that's the orange bottom sole, not the inner sole. I thought I was buying an old favorite but got mixed up and when I saw the sole and tried to put on my size, I knew they were too small. This sole is identical to the V-Soul and older Encana's pattern which also run small (I ordered them and returned them in the past). How small? Two sizes too small. I am a 40 in all other Vibram shoes of which I have many. Size in this style, KSO Evo, 41 allows for socks although snug, size 42 is perfect. Note that this is one of the thinnest soled, most barefoot style shoe but it is slim fitting, no Hobbit feet. If you don't like really a thin sole, just get a pair of 3/4 inserts at the grocery or pharmacy and you will be all set. So be sure to check the sole style of any Vibram you buy and if it is just like this one, order up 2 sizes. ... show more

  • Labeled 38 but they are really tight 37s
Size: 7.5-8 Color: Black/Rose
These are not my first Vibrams. I measured my feet years ago and was a 36, but needed 37s for a little extra room for my toe nails to not bruise. I've owned at least 5 pairs of Vibrams all have been 37s. My two pairs of Alitzas are on their last few miles before I put holes in the soles, both are 37s with room to spare so my toes don't feel cramped. When I went to buy these new Vibrams I was forced to buy using US shoe size which was odd, I made sure to go a 1/2 size down because I don't need a 1/2 inch play in Vibrams. What came were labeled 38 but I was sure they were the width of my 37s and I held them up to my Alitzas and sure enough the soles are definitely 37s, the marking on the bottom are exactly like my Alitas and match line for line from heel to toe. So I wasn't too worried about the size, BUT THEN, when I put them on, they were so tight. My first thought was, it's ok, I want them to fit like gloves. But these are too tight. I'm considering if I should return them. It's like Vibram doesn't think about people with arches and the big toes are so tight. I've worn them 2 days now hoping they will stretch a bit. I don't know if they will but the thought of getting 39s just feels wrong. What happened to Vibram's sizing? Update: After a week at Disney they've stretched out enough to feel like nice gloves. They are not as tight as when they arrived and I have no intention of returning them. But I'm leaving my 1 star because I can't get over the sizing issue. One of the main things I loved about Vibrams was that the sizing was precise and carried over from model to model. To be labeled as 38 and be way to small for my expectations is unforgivable. I love the colors, I love the shoe. I wish the laces were about 1/4" longer. I can't get over the labeled size. ... show more

  • KSO EVO
So I've been wearing "support with a good sole" (traditional shoes) for decades. After developing tendon problems in my feet I went to the foot doctor. He told me to wear....(wait for it)...a more supportive shoe. And he prescribed exercises- emphasizing the exercises were the most important part of my feet healing. If it's so important for my foot to move MORE then why are you telling me that- for a large part of the day- I should shove it into a restrictive contraption and move it LESS? So I tried the Vibrams and now have 3 pairs. For a little while my feet were sore. I'm assuming this was from finally releasing them from their confinement. It's like they had been in a cast for years and now they need to be reconditioned. Before I bought these shoes my feet were so weak I couldn't walk without shoes pain-free. I slept with traditional shoes right next to the bed to slip them on every morning. Which was fine with me because I really dislike being barefoot anyway. The Vibrams were hard to put on at first, but after a couple weeks of unfurling "acquired hammertoe" to put them in their little pockets it got really easy. The 3 pairs I own all have different lacing styles. One is a slip on, one is a speed lace, and one has regular laces. The slip on and the speed lace both have smaller openings and are harder to get on. The speed lace does not open up wide like regular shoe laces. If you have arthritis or a wider foot you may want to try the Speed XC/Lite. It has regular, wide opening laces and a bigger opening when the laces are untied. All 3 styles I have are equally comfortable. I personally like the freedom and movement I get from the thinnest soled styles. The thicker soles felt like I had big planks attached to my feet. I returned those. The KSO EVO shoes are a little different from my other 2 styles of Vibrams. The plastic sole that wraps up and around-almost over-the top of the toes isn't there. This model has the sole stop lower- more down in front of the toes. I can feel a little pressure from the fabric on my big toe that isn't there with other styles. Not good. Not bad. Just different. Go slow and follow the directions on Vibrams website. It was easy to overdo it at first because my feet were feeling so good. You are de-evolving your way of walking. Going back to something more natural. It feels weird sometimes. I tried to put on my old traditional style shoes and I just can't stand them. The tiny pointed toe boxes and hard soles feel like I have Chinese lotus feet. Yeeesh. How did I walk like that all these years? (Until)(If)(When) my local stores start carrying these again-I'm forced to buy them online and deal with the hassles of fit and size through the mail. But I will do this gladly. I love them. • Quality
Size: 7-7.5 Color: Grey/Orange
I’ve always wanted a pair of Vibram shoes. I had to order them three times. The first pair was returned because they were too small. The second order never arrived. This is the third pair. I tried it and noticed something was pressing against the fifth toe on my right foot. It felt hard and was hurting my toe. It was difficult to turn the shoe inside out because I didn’t want to cut the lace. But I eventually managed to pull out the fifth toe section and found a hard spot at the end of the stitch. I cut it, hoping it would fix the issue. But when I wore the shoes again and walked a few steps, this happened (see photo). So, the toe section tore open. $70 gone. Please, if you’re planning to redesign this shoe, make sure the end of the stitch isn’t placed inside one of the toe pockets. ... show more

  • I would definitely buy these again
This would have five stars if the bottom of the toe wasn’t starting to peel back. These are the best shoes I’ve ever owned, but I was very disappointed that the rubber started peeling away from the sneaker itself after one season of using them.. Even still, I love these and wear them out hiking often. ... show more
