  • Ripped after 5 weeks of light to moderate use. Out $70
Size: 9-9.5 Color: Black
Purchased these on June 4, 2018. It's July 9th 2018 (so a little over than 30 days) and they now have a hole on the side of the big-toe on my left shoe. I contacted customer support and they said that the 90 day warranty only covers manufacturing defects, not rips. Keep in mind I use these to run about 2 times a week, roughly 20 minutes. They probably have less than 5 hours of total use on them and have already ripped, and the manufacturer doesn't consider this a defect. So many people gave 5 stars so I did NOT expect these to rip with such light use. Absolute garbage quality, with terrible customer service. Would NOT recommend. ... show more

  • Work great but sole hole every 6 months
Size: 10.5-11 Color: Black
This will be my third pair of the KSO's in about 1.5 years. After 6 months I pretty consistently get a hole in the toe. My usage: 5 day a week weight lifting. 1-2 mile runs 3-6 times a week. 1 mile walks 4-7 times a week. So, very heavy use. The good: These seemed to have cured my plantar fasciitis that I got walking around Europe in boots. When I switch over to running in Nike frees, they feel insanely heavy. Maybe placebo but it feels like I can run faster in my Vibrams (when doing HIIT). The bad: The biggest issue of course is the hole on the sole. Also, despite using some anti bacterial shoe powder, they start to smell pretty bad around the 5 month mark. Overall: Despite having to order new Vibrams every 6 months, I continue to use them. ... show more

  • Great barefoot shoe
These are just what the doctor ordered. I already have some earth shoes and a fellow runner who's a doc told me arthritis in my knee would go away with these minimalist shoes. I didn't believe it. The other earth shoes kinda felt barefoot and allowed toe flex, but these indeed feel like barefoot. Took just a little bit to get used to the feeling of stuff between your toes. Kinda like the feeling when you are on wet sand like at the beach. I can feel almost everything. So you can bruise your sole on a rock. But that's what I wanted. Just enough protection to not get cut. They dry out fast if wet. I trek on the beach, a gravel/dirt road, and occasional rocks/dry coral. They don't stink yet. I am always getting them wet in saltwater. I west 11/wide and the 45 was a perfect glove fit. I chose grey/black so they don't look too dorky, but still I get good natured laughs. I just laugh along with them. Works for me ... show more

  • Good, But The Original May Be Better
I'll start by admitting that I've owned eleven pairs of VFF's since 2011. That may make me sound like a fanatic, but I'm really not. I've bought several models and used them for everything from water sports to hiking to running. Some I've really liked, some not so much. One of my favorite models has been the original KSO. It's perhaps the most versatile show they've made. I'm not found of the later, more built up styles. When the KSO EVO came out I thought I'd give it a try. The EVO is not bad, but I think the original is still better. I like the EVO's sole. It's thin, flexible and grippy. The lacing system is good. I like the old Velcro closures, but I'll admit that the laces do the job. I'm less impressed with the EVO's upper. The original came up higher toward the ankle and sealed better. It really did "keep stuff out", but the EVO upper sits lower below the ankle and not as tightly. It's comfortable enough, but I doubt it will keep out debris as well as the original did. In regards to fit, I think the EVO is a tad smaller than the original, but not so much as to be an issue or cause me to size up. I should make one more comment on fit. My foot measures 10-7/8" long. This has, according to Vibram, always put me "between sizes". However, when I bought my first pair of VFF's, their website put me between a 43 and a 44. Today, their website puts me between a 44 and a 45. I think their current information is more accurate. I bought these EVO's in size 44. The sole measures about 11" long and, as mentioned, they fit a bit tighter than the original KSO in the same size, but not enough that I'd order a 45. In conclusion, the KSO EVO is light, flexible and grippy, maybe more so than the original. If that's most important to you, you'll like this model. But the original KSO offers more protection and a more secure fit. Buy the original if this is most important to you. ... show more

  • Great shoes! Just don't expect them to last long at all!
Size: 10.5-11 Color: Black
Let me just start by saying the KSO EVO is a great shoe. The upper is lightweight and super breathable which conveniently makes them super easy to put on compared to, say, the V-Train's. After almost 10 years of wearing these shoes, from the Bikila's, TrekSports, KomodoSport LS, KSO's, V-Trains, and I'm sure some others I am forgetting, these seem like a great evolution to the product line. HOWEVER, for the price, I cannot recommend these. I fully understand the "story" to this line of FiveFingers but the sole is just TOO THIN, and not in the way you don't want it to be, just too thin to handle daily use. I used these shoes daily for walking my dogs (about 3 miles) then working out in my backyard at home. I purchased these on July 1st, 2018 and as of September 6th, 2018 - they have holes in two of the toes - not in the fabric - but the sole themselves under the toes have worn down exposing the fabric and ripping a hole in the toes. Because I love the fit and feel of them, I will use shoe goo to keep them going for a little while longer but as of this point, $90 for 2 months of wear is a little ridiculous. All that said, you will love these shoes while they last. In the images you will see the shoe goo I applied over the hole that developed in the left shoe. The right shoe hasn't developed any holes yet but they are very close to it. You can see just how worn down the sole is. ... show more
