  • Saved me a lot of money
Style: [V03] 30+5 uF Round
For whatever reason, regular people can't buy these locally. You have to be an AC contractor to get one. You don't have to be a carpenter to buy dangerous power tools. You don't have to be a lumberjack to buy a chainsaw. You don't have to be a mechanic to buy auto parts. You don't have to be an electrician to buy wire or an electrical panel, or circuit breakers, but you have to be an AC contractor to buy these parts in local stores (because they are "dangerous"). I had one fail a couple of years ago. I knew what was wrong at the time. I knew how to fix it. I even knew the part number of the part I needed, but I couldn't buy the part. If your outdoor heat pump fan motor isn't coming on, you can get a good idea of whether this is your problem or not without even opening the unit. Wait by your outdoor unit for a couple of minutes with a stick. When you hear a buzzing sound, the unit is trying to start the fan. Reach in with your small stick and flick the fan blade. If the blade spins up, then this is probably your problem. If you spin it in the correct direction, (push on the high edge in the directing of the short edge) it may even cool your house off long enough for you to wait for one of these to arrive. You just might have to go out and restart the fan with your little stick every now and then... or put another fan, or a leaf blower on top blowing so that the fan spins a little (to simulate your stick), even when the unit turns off. Sometimes, even if it starts to spin, it won't spin up to full speed and after a minute or two it will shut off again. In that case, this can still be your problem, but you may not be able to wait for the repair. Last time, Instead of waiting several days to have one delivered, I got a local AC contractor to install one for me. I told them exactly what was wrong on the phone before they arrived. I even told them the part number they needed to bring with them to make sure they would not have to charge me for the time to go and get one. They were here for 10 minutes and the bill was $225. ( I later learned they didn't even install the right part) My second unit failed yesterday morning. I kind of expected it would happen and had been meaning to have a spare capacitor on hand, but alas, I forgot to get one. It was a Friday (of course), during a heatwave (of course), so I really wanted it fixed, so I looked for the part locally, but couldn't find one again. I even called the contractor from before, and they couldn't come out until the following Monday. So, I ordered this part. It arrived overnight. I Installed it and all is well with the world. Took five minutes to install it and it saved me $210. When I opened the panel to change it, which I hadn't even bothered to do until it arrived since I already had the part number from before, it was evident the old capacitor was leaking as it was covered with fluid. Looks like it just rusted through. So, I highly highly highly recommend it. It isn't much more difficult to change than plugging and unplugging a light. The hardest part really is removing the screws on the panel to get to it. Of course, you need to know about killing the power and discharging the capacitor to be safe, but certainly no more dangerous than running a chainsaw. My theory is you can't buy them locally so AC contractors can sell $15 parts for $225. I think I will go order another one to have a spare on hand. ... show more

  • Works ok electrically
Style: [V04] 60+7.5 uF Round
These capacitors are generic thus affordable, and the electrical connectors are well-marked in a standard way, so electrical hookup is pretty obvious but the physical form size is not specific/standard to all AC units so obtaining a stable mounting/fit may take extra work and material. Shimming the cylinder to fit snugly into a band-clamp is what I had to do. Used a few small pieces of plastic-foam packing material. Seems fine. ... show more

  • Works perfectly. Order 2 and have a spare on hand
Style: [V05] 45+10 uF Round
I ordered 2, so I would have a spare, next time when outside unit quits working. I didn’t realize my 4 year old unit’s capacitor was going bad until it finally gave it up. When I replaced it with this capacitor, the compressor/fan starting sound was so much quieter. I then realized my original capacitor had been weak for a long time. I just wish I had replaced it sooner. They are cheap, so I ordered two, just so I could have a spare whenever needed. I needed this 10 micro farad but borrowed a little smaller 7.5 mF from brother and it held me over until this 10mF came in. You can usually get by with a new smaller capacitor for a short time, a day or so at most if needed. Just don’t quote me on this but it worked for me. I bet my OEM 10mF had gotten and been extremely weak for a long time, so a 7.5 was much more than the original had been supplying as far as inrush current needs at start. ... show more

  • Like the original
Style: [V04] 40+7.5 uF Round
Installed it on my 3.5 ton HVAC because the original one was 2005. Plug and play. simple to install but a small diameter. Only had to loop the strap and crush it to hold this securely.

  • It's a capacitor. And it works
Style: [V03] 45+5 uF Round
Measured right about 45/5 for capacitance. Little thicker and shorter than the one that came off my ac unit. Ac started right up and works fine. Old capacitor measured 0 capacitance and didn't spark on discharge. So 5/5, I have working AC and would buy again (assuming this one also lasts about 10 years) ... show more

  • Easy to install, saved 100's!
Style: [V03] 35+5 uF Round
Our the fan to the air conditioner compressor stopped working. My husband called a friend who used to do HVAC work. He told us what to order and if came the next day. We unhooked the old and installed this one. We turned on the unit and it started right up. And its been working ever since. Saved us hundreds! ... show more

  • Saved our butts in the heat of the of summer.
Style: [V04] 55+7.5 uF Round
Like is typical of old AC systems, ours gave out on a really hot day (right before a birthday party at our house). I had already replaced the capacitor in this system a few years ago because the fan on the outside unit wouldn't start, and this time the capacitor blew on the compressor side (they help start both the fan and the compressor on most outside AC units). It was there next day, popped back in, and for less than $20 and 20 minutes and we were back up and running. Hopefully this lasts longer than the 4 years the last one I put in there did (another brand), but so far so good, and it's been hotter than the day it blew and no issues so far. ... show more

  • Blown out AC capacitors are kinda common.
Style: [V04] 45+7.5 uF Round
It darn hot in South Texas in the summer and blown out AC capacitors are kinda common due to constant running home AC at heavy loads. The AC company charges $75 just for this plus another $275 for the visit. I keep these on hand just in case. Know what your doing before you try and change in of these items. But it works very well. ... show more
