  • Heavy and well made
I've had two roller stands before I bought this one. One of them was a multi roller on a scissor frame - basically junk. One of them was a Rule, a well respected name in woodworking equipment. However the roller on it rusted badly and the folding "A" frame would always fold up and fall at the worst possible moment. I think I need to make this shop art - I can't throw it away. So I found this roller and like the design and the weight, it's heavy and stays put. The clamps for height adjustment and the head swivel are quite effective. Overall I think this is the best single roller I've ever used, I'll buy another one. Pros: heavy and remains adjusted wherever you set it. Roller seems to be very good quality. Cons: you need a Metric Allen wrench (included) to make a height adjustment - this can be easily lost. I cut a short piece of aluminum tube and taped it to the stand to hold the key. Problem solved. Would I recommend this to a friend? Absolutely. ... show more

  • Cant go wrong with these stands.
Just assembling these stands gives the feel they are heavy duty and will outlast the owner by 100 years. Very well built and and easy to assemble and use. Many others complain about the allen wrench and losing it. I think thats a pretty petty thing to whine about. Easy enough to get a holding strap or even Velcro and attach it to the stand. I doubt anyone is going to be changing the height 15 times a day. Good price on a really good product. Thanks Vestil! Nice to be able to give a 5 star rating on a product these days. ... show more

  • Built like a tank, but - -
Setting the height on this thing is a challenge. (Hard to get it to stay put to tighten it down.). I like that they use Allen (hex) nuts to tighten everything but I would think this could be a little less expensive. They did send a good useful Allen wrench. Seems to me this is made for function and I am optimistic about that. ... show more

  • Great roller stands !
I was about to build some roller stands for my metal bandsaw and table saw. I decided to search the internet a little bit and came across these Vestil stands. After reading thru the reviews, I bought two stands. They arrived quickly and were easy to put together. I did end up cutting 1/2” off of the bottom of the tube, where it goes into the leg, in order for the roller to be the same height as the surface of my band saw. This should still allow the stand to go high enough for my table saw. I was impressed with the weight of the stand and the quality and the smoothness of the roller. Each stand is rated at 1760 lb, which is way more than I intend to use these for. Others mentioned not liking the Allen wrench to tighten down the clamp, when adjusting the height, since they were worried about losing the Allen wrench. I did take a metric bolt, threaded a nut on all the way and welded the nut on the head side of the bolt. I then welded on a piece of metal to make a T handle bolt. I don’t know if this gives enough leverage to tighten down the clamp, so that it stays at desired height. I have yet to determine if this will work well enough to hold up the roller, especially if heavy objects will be on the stands. I may end up making a holder for the Allen wrench to sit in, so it does not get lost when not being used. ... show more

  • With a little work, these could be the best roller stands around.
I purchased this roller stand to mate with my central machinery 7x12 horizontal band saw. I needed something about 22" off the ground and read that these could be shortened easily if need be. I just received mine yesterday and am pleased with the heavy steel castings for the base and roller portion, but the telescopic tubes are just not up to par on a stand at this price point. I measured the thickness of the tubes and came up with about .085" depending on where I measured. Its not so much the thin tubing that bugs me, it's that there's no reinforcement in the areas that are retained by a set screw. Both outer and inner tubes rely on set screws to attach the roller and base and it doesn't take much torque to distort the thin walled tubing. I machined down some .250" steel tubing on the lathe and pounded and tacked a small 1" piece down both outer and inner tubes to help resist distortion when those set screws are cranked tight. It's pretty stout now, but I still have to question their claim that these will hold 1700 lbs. The cast steel upper and base portion would easily handle that kind of abuse, but the thin telescoping tubes- I'm not convinced. Another area that could use improvement is to make the clamping collar a tool free design. I plan to do that in the coming weeks and also plan to add threaded leveling feet to the base. ... show more

  • Excellent price. Easy to assemble. Sturdy as heck.
There are many roller stands out there and this is probably the best among them. It is extremely sturdy, easy to asssemple, and just works. I do wish it had a way to store the Allen key built onto the stand somehow. Otherwise, it is an excellent value and will serve all of my woodworking indeed/outfeed needs for all tools. ... show more

The product is nice but it came with a missing component and it seems impossible to return or replace it.

  • Well built and heavy duty, easy to modify for shorter height.
I bought this as an accessory for my Harbor Freight 97009 7x12 band saw. I've got to cut down some 20 foot lengths of heavy steel channel and tubing, and I needed something to support the long pieces of steel. This stand is very solid, fairly heavy, and doesn't shift under the weight of the stock. I had to cut mine down a couple inches on the end of the column to make it low enough to work with the height of the saw's table, but that's not really a big deal since I'm already using the band saw to cut things. Other folding stands I looked at would have been much more difficult to shorten due to the hinged designs. I was surprised how quickly it arrived and put together. Assembly is just a matter of putting the column on the stand and the roller on the column and tightening the 2 screws. The allen key for this is included in the package as well, which is a nice touch. I'm probably going to end up buying another stand to support extra long pieces that would be cut in half and would need support on both sides of the saw. ... show more
