I love this desk! Firstly I should mention that the desk came in SIX boxes, not 7 like some of the other reviews and articles around the internet have mentioned. The boxes do have numbering on them (e.g. 1 of 6), so they must have listened to some of the feedback from customers about being confused on the multiple boxes being shipped. I had no missing parts, but there were a few of the larger metal pieces which had been damaged during shipping. I had to HAMMER them back into shape, Tony Stark style when he made the Mark I armor in a cave with a box of scraps. Start to finish, it took me around 11 hours to put the desk together spread across two days. I was able to build the desk by myself, but it would definitely have been easier/quicker with 2 people. The printed instructions which came with the desk were on regular printer paper, and the ink they used was extremely dark, so much so that the images were not clear enough to see how the pieces were supposed to be oriented, and I ended up having to take some of the parts apart again to reorient them due to the poor pictures. I didn't realize until about 80% way through completing the desk that there was an PDF version of the instructions that was easily visible, so I'd recommend printing that off yourself before starting. Also, the instructions had minor inconsistencies, like some steps saying I'd need to use 7 screws, but only 5 screws being used due to the additional drill holes not being present (it seemed like they were intentionally left out since they were omitted on both sides of the desk). Overall, the quality of the parts and desk is really good. I'm very happy with the desk, and was able to get it at a steep discount. I'd recommend considering your staining options before assembling the desk, because once it's together you are not going to want to take it back apart!

The quality is top notch, however, they did not include assembly instructions. I had to work out which screws went where and tinker with the pieces to see how everything fit together. Fortunately, I am a tech engineer and was able to piece it all together after some assessments. I searched several times online to see if instructions were in .pdf form or if there was a video. No luck. Nothing on their website either. Also, the delivery was not as expected. The delivery people delivered 3 boxes on the first day, then the next day delivered 4 boxes. I attempted to discover the number of boxes there were supposed to be in the entire shipment (normally the boxes are marked with 1 of 7 - 2 of 7, etc.) but they were not labeled for that. Not sure if the info is in the barcode or not. Still have to contact support for an error E01 on the display for raise/lower controller. Depending on their response time and assistance I may submit a different review or revise this one.

Poorly packaged. Drill holes don't align. For nearly $2000, you would expect a nice product. Assembly instructions are wrong. Step 1 included a damaged part, center beam was bent, nut was recessed too far into the center surface board so could screw it to the metal frame. Called and left a voicemail. Didn’t get a response. Called again later, Claudia never actually submitted my ticket and stopped responding to me. Called a third time and submitted via Amazon CS. Waiting to see if they’ll send the correct replacements. Sounds like they want to blame damaging on shipping but it’s their fault for not packing properly, welding incorrectly, and assembling other parts wrong.

I don't feel compelled to write a lot of Amazon reviews these days because most of what I purchase here is pretty solidly moderate quality and most folks know what they are getting, especially when it comes to buying flat pack furniture from Amazon. This desk is the exception. As someone who works in technology and spends 10-12 hours a day at a desk most days, I have had a variety of desks over the years, from basic desks, adjustable sit / stand desks, fixed height Sit / Stand desks, etc. As part of a recent move, I wanted to upgrade my workstation and had a pretty clear list of what I wanted: - A "V" shaped workstation - Ample work surfaces - Real wood desktops (will address this later) - Solid construction that will last - Modern aesthetic - Adjustable height - Built in cable management As I shopped around online and in stores, I realized how hard it actually was to find what I was looking for. I had ultimately resigned myself to the fact that I would likely have to buy the adjustable base and parts to build the desk I wanted as most of what I was finding the same mediocre quality with minimal work surfaces. I happened upon the VersaDesk Foundry Bench while I was shopping for an adjustable desk base and started trying to find more information and reviews online. The reviews here on Amazon weren't terribly helpful and the negative reviews focused on how some people had a hard time assembling and that shipping had taken awhile. After 4-5 days of research, I decided to take a risk based on the information I was able to find, and I am certainly glad I did. This desk is hands down one of the best engineered and built workstations I have seen. It is precisely engineered and it is obvious a lot of thought went into the design, fit, finish and materials. It is made in the USA and the metal parts are made thick enough to be strong, but light enough that the final product can be moved easily on the provided casters (even on carpet). It was delivered within about 4 days of being ordered and was some of the best packaged furniture I have ever received. Everything was wrapped, strapped, insulated and double boxed. It came in 7 boxes which all arrived at the same time. It comes with all the hardware you need to assemble neatly packaged in a single plastic compartmented sleeve and included extras in the event you lose one or strip one out. Unboxing and assembly does take time, but the printed instructions are simple to read and very clearly illustrate what you need to do. Take your time and build it you will be happy with the results. A couple notes: The work surfaces are raw bamboo plywood and will require some maintenance or finishing if you choose. Versa desk even includes a package of lemon pledge wipes to protect them and it will need to be periodically reapplied if you chose to use that. You can also chose to stain and finish as you would with a wood product. The motors and actuators are way smoother and quieter than I expected and the desk is very strong once fully assembled (Versa desk claims it will support 350lbs). The work surfaces have grooves in the underside to mount LED strips (they even sell an led accent on their site). It does not include the keyboard tray shown in pics. Overall, if you are looking for a well built professional workstation that will last a very long time, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Versadesk Foundry Desk.

i just got it set up today and i like it so far but it does need to be stained to look nice. good amount of room for my gaming stuff but would have like it to be a full flat top so i can move things around easier. when get it built some of the metal pieces where twisted, some hole didn't line up for the wood and you'll need a drill to make the screws that go into the wood easier. now i just need stain and modify it to have a foot rest.
