Our quilted cotton is colorful and lightweight. Exterior features 2 side slip pockets, a u-shaped front zip compartment, a front zip pocket and a back hidden zip pocket. Front u-shaped zip compartment contains 4 slip pockets, 3 pen slips and an ID window. Main compartment features 2 mesh slip pockets. Padded laptop compartment. Padded shoulder straps are shaped for optimum comfort on body. Back panel is padded, and features a shaped trolley sleeve. Zip closures. Accommodates up to a 15" laptop. Machine wash cold gentle cycle. Use non-chlorine bleach as needed, line dry. Vera Bradley is usually my go-to for quality-made travel bags, and this backpack is no exception. I purchased the black bandana medallion pattern, which is just gorgeous but also subtle. I am not in school but I used this bag for international travel. It fit perfectly underneath the airplane seat. The straps are very comfortable and I wore this backpack while hiking around for hours without any discomfort. Another nice feature is the trolley sleeve in the back, so it fits on top of your rolling luggage. The main caveats are that the laptop compartment in the back fits a 15 inch laptop, but my work laptop is a 17 inch so it fits in the front-most pocket which is actually a larger pocket. This doesn't bother me that much however. After my travels, the bag did get a bit dingy on the white color, so I threw it in the washing machine on delicate cycle (inside of a mesh bag) and then hung it to air dry. There were no issues after washing it and it is very clean again! In terms of capacity and organization, the front zipper pockets are very useful for keeping smaller items like charging cables, tissues, etc. It also has two water bottle pockets on the sides. We took this bag as a carryon on our CostaRica trip. Everything about this bag was fantastic. One small improvement I would recommend to the design is - the outer zip in the inverted U shape - I wish it had 'two' zip pull tabs instead of just one. With one-zip-tab, when you open it while travelling - like in airplane , it opens from side and things may fall off accidentally. If it had two-zip-tabs, you can open the zip tabs from top and keep the sides closed all the time. Just a very minor design / personal preference. Otherwise it is a beautiful bag and in airport a lady carrying a $1500 Brahmin bag couldn't stop looking at my Vera Bradley bag! ... show more
