I bought and returned 4 or 5 backpacks prior to an 8 day trip to The UK and France, but this backpack ended my search for the ideal travel backpack. In addition to needing a somewhat roomy carry-on backpack, I knew I'd be away from my hotels for many hours at a time and I wanted to have easy access to plenty of water, snacks, back-up phone chargers, light layers, etc. However, I also wanted something that wasn't huge and didn't look entirely like piece of luggage. This fit the bill (*almost) perfectly. (*The ONLY thing I would change is that it would be water-resistant). The shoulder straps are so comfortable. I carried this backpack pretty much all day, every day for 8 days, + about 24 additional hours in the airports. It was always full, but the weight was evenly distributed and the straps are perfectly padded...not too bulky. I didn't bring my laptop, but the laptop pocket is very roomy. I used that pocket to keep passports and tickets safely against my back. There is also a smaller pocket up against my back that could be used for this purpose. It has a side zipper, but I think it would be very difficult to unzip without the wearer being aware of it. Its other pockets are extremely functional as well. The outside water bottle pockets were large enough to hold 20ounce bottles(with room to spare). There are also many interior pockets, both with and without zippers, to help keep your stuff organized. The quilting gives the backpack a bit more of a feminine look, but don't let that fool you. It is VERY durable. I had this sitting at my feet on trains, subways, airplanes, Ubers, taxis; at restaurants, train stations, airports, parks, museums and more. It was also shoved under seats and in overhead bins. It held up to all of that with no damage. It didn't even look at all dirty at the end of the trip. However, I knew it had to be filthy. I made sure all of the pockets were empty and unzipped, then I threw it in the washer. I washed it in cold water and hung it up to dry. It looks like new. I absolutely love this backpack and can't wait to take it on more adventures. Some reasons I returned other backpacks... #1 - Very small exterior bottle pockets...I hate putting more plastic in the environment and prefer to refill my own large(ish)water bottles. #2 - Uncomfortable straps. Some of the cuter packs have very thin shoulder straps. Those may look more like a purse, but are not good if you plan to carry the full pack for hours on end. #3 - No safety pocket up against your back. #4 - No strap to slip over rolling suitcase handle. #5 - Lots of flashy zippers. (to get an idea of it's size...I'm 5'5", 125 lbs) ... show more

    • Beautiful, sturdy backpack
Vera Bradley is usually my go-to for quality-made travel bags, and this backpack is no exception. I purchased the black bandana medallion pattern, which is just gorgeous but also subtle. I am not in school but I used this bag for international travel. It fit perfectly underneath the airplane seat. The straps are very comfortable and I wore this backpack while hiking around for hours without any discomfort. Another nice feature is the trolley sleeve in the back, so it fits on top of your rolling luggage. The main caveats are that the laptop compartment in the back fits a 15 inch laptop, but my work laptop is a 17 inch so it fits in the front-most pocket which is actually a larger pocket. This doesn't bother me that much however. After my travels, the bag did get a bit dingy on the white color, so I threw it in the washing machine on delicate cycle (inside of a mesh bag) and then hung it to air dry. There were no issues after washing it and it is very clean again! In terms of capacity and organization, the front zipper pockets are very useful for keeping smaller items like charging cables, tissues, etc. It also has two water bottle pockets on the sides. I bought this Vera Bradley backpack for my daughter school year, and it’s been amazing! First of all, the design is perfect. The grey colors and patterns make it easy to spot, and the quality feels top-notch. Functionally, it’s everything needed for a busy school day. There’s a padded compartment that fits a laptop perfectly, plus enough space for textbooks, notebooks, and even her lunch. The front pocket is great for smaller items like pens, hand sanitizer, and earbuds, and the side pockets easily hold a water bottle. The straps are padded and really comfortable, even when carrying it all day across campus. And I love that it’s lightweight but still sturdy enough to hold everything without sagging. If you want a school backpack that’s stylish, durable, and actually makes carrying your stuff a little more fun, this is it! ... show more

This is a very durable back pack!! I told my daughter that if we bought this bag she would have to use it till it fell apart due to the price! We got it her freshman year and we are nearing the end of her sophomore year! It’s still holding strong and let me tell you she loads it down everyday!! No issue with any of the zippers and no rips! It holds all of her books, her Chromebook and even her cheer shoes and jackets. The side pockets holds her Stanley perfectly. Im actually very impressed with how much it holds. This is a bit pricey but I have to say it’s worth it!! It’s both cute and very functional! ... show more

I love the vibrant colors of the daisies, I love that the bag is cotton and easily washable and that it is lightweight. I previously had a faux leather diaper bag and it was so heavy. This bag has plenty of space and will be easier to clean and carry around for long periods. I got it as a ‘ purse’ I’m not really a purse person I usually carry my wallet but I like to have a book bag for my kids stuff , they are a little past diaper bag stage but my youngest is still potty training and always gotta have snacks on hand. I don’t know how well it will hold up but I got it on sale for 40 percent off. It is my first Vera Bradley purchase ... show more

1. Correct size for an EDC bag or a personal item bag for budget airlines. The outside pocket does not protrude forward too much away from the main body of the bag. The straps are padded and wide enough to keep the bag closer to the body. 2. The fabric feels soft and the zippers work well. The seams around them are even, so there is no catch. The inside fabric is pretty and feminine vs the no nonsense look of the outside. The fabric is supple and smooth so my nails will not snagged it. 3. I have an xlg backpack from Vera Bradley before and it still works fine. I just need a smaller backpack for budget airlines. I just don’t trust those $25-$45 bags. I have been waiting until this one came down from $125 to its current price. I used for the first time yesterday, got caught in the rain. I have never worried too much with my other bags, but this time, it was totally soaked. The bag is good for sunny days only.😀 ... show more

I got this backpack for my daughter, and she absolutely loves it! It’s the perfect size for school, with plenty of space for her books, lunchbox, and even a little extra. The design is super cute and has held up really well so far. It’s both functional and fun—definitely a great buy!
