For many years, I have occasionally wanted this tool, which I learned to call a bone folder in my youth. I am using it right now while crafting paper decorations. It is a classic for creasing and assisting in folding paper and some other thin materials. It can also be used to burnish the surface of materials that are softer than it is. I have avoided buying some plastic or wooden ones; often the plastic ones have edges that are too sharp, and they are overly lightweight in the hand. Wooden ones often have a surface that is rough or too porous. I was pleased to find this one made of bone, the best material I know of for this tool. This product met all my requirements and expectations. It has the weight and density of bone, and the shaping and polishing are perfect on it. I passed my bamboo one to a friend who might have judged bone as too icky. If you haven't seen a good bone tool, they are slightly off-white in color, smooth and slightly cool to the touch, and weigh more than plastic, but they don't look much like bone as you see it in cooking or outdoors. ... show more

I bought this because I couldn’t find my original bone folder. I immediately noticed the weight of the Vencink bone folder and also the texture (I guess) of the product. I read after the purchase that it isn’t plastic, but made from ox bones. Even the packaging was Class A. It is also heavier (0.8 oz) than the other brand I have (0.4 oz) and really feels substantial in hand. At the time of purchase it was $2.00 less than the one I purchased before. Since I tend to misplace these often I am buying extras. Once you use them you won’t want to go back to the plastic ones. Well worth the price. Highly recommend. ... show more

I've had a plastic one for a while now & it's been OK. I didn't know they still made them out of bone. So when I saw this I snatched it up & was immediately rewarded with the improved quality & ease of use. I suffer from arthritis & carpal tunnel & working with my hands is nearly impossible some days. This bone tool is actually smoother than the plastic one, & the extra weight does make the job easier. I use it for folding heavy watercolor paper, & scoring, burnishing & shaping leather.
