Great Water Bottle

I bought this water bottle for a trip to Europe. It worked very well for me. The bottle will stand up, it fits in my backpacks water bottle opening and folds flat when empty. I occasionally used the carabiner to clip it to the strap or my belt. The bottle never leaked and was easy to open get a drink. The only issues are that it’s a bit difficult to clean and dry inside. I would definitely suggest getting this bottle and I would definitely buy another if I need an extra one or something happens to this one.

Works as ad quickly or easily as a traditional hard sided bottle

I purchased this primarily to use during flights. It was easy to store in my carry on, and I filled it at one of the increasingly available water bottle refill stations at the airport. The only issue there was that the refill station functioned with an electric eye, which didn't recognize the Vapur bottle as being in front of it. So I had to "trick" the refill station by placing a finger over the electric eye, forcing the water flow to commence. The bottle doesn't really have much insulation, but I found that the water remained cool enough to drink during my 5 hour flight. I don't know how well it would do on a hike on a warm day, though. And once empty it is easy to roll up and stash away. My wife carries a traditional aluminum water bottle for flights, and while they have their benefits they are not as easily stored. My one issue is that the bottle isn't as easy to dry after use as the manufacturer suggests. Because of the material and design it tends to collapse on itself toward the bottom as water is consumed, so the interior walls of the bottle often touch one another. I recently used it at home and a week later, despite it sitting in an air conditioned room with low humidity, it still has numerous water droplets inside. I'm not usually a germophobe but I have to assume that bacteria is breeding in those droplets. And the suggestion of drying it by turning it upside down is easier said than done. Again, because of its construction and design it tends to topple over when empty and upside down. So you'll likely need to prop it against something and keep it out of any breezes as it tends to topple when exposed to a breeze since it is so lightweight. I keep trying to open the bottom section to keep the interior walls separated but they naturally tend to collapse with time. Perhaps inserting something such as the handle of a long spoon that might help prop it open would help. I haven't tried hanging it by the carabiner yet. It seems sturdy enough but the bottle, when full, has a bit of heft to it, and the only thing I had walking around was belt loops. I feared it would prove to heavy for them. I suspect hooking it to a backpack would be a better match. All in all I am pleased with the bottle and I plan to take it on my next flight to keep hydrated while on the plane. Update 7-22-16 I think I have found a solution to the bottle drying conundrum. Vapur's website suggests leaving the bottle upside down on a drying mat to dry. Well after about a week and a half my bottle still had a good number of small water droplets clinging to the interior sides. I decided that the problem was that these droplets were so small that their weight was insufficient to cause them to drop to the bottom (or actually the top, since it was resting upside down) of the bottle. So when the only way to eliminate those droplets would be through evaporation. But with the bottle upside down that would never happen (they would simply condense again on the bottle's sides and it would be perpetually wet). So I left it upside down for a while until the larger drops had run out, then flipped it back onto its base. I did blow gently into the opening, which caused the bottle to expand. Then I left it sitting upright and within a day the remaining small droplets had evaporated! With that problem solved I am happier still with this purchase. Let's hope it holds up to repeated uses. So far no sign of any damage, but I've only used it a few times, and I haven't frozen it or run it through the top dishwasher rack... Update 11/10/18 - After losing my first of these I purchased a second about 6 months ago. Sadly it began leaking from the cap on the second use. I discovered this the hard way by setting it down on my seat on a plane to stow my carry- on only to find a puddle in the seat a few seconds later! I don't think I'll be buying a third...

High quality water bottle

Great water bottle for a decently low price. Item shipped quickly with no hassle. The water bottle is exactly as pictured, tinted dark grey plastic material on the sides but still pretty translucent. Easy to tell with a glance how much water is left in the bottle. At first I was worried that the thinner plastic at the bottom of the bottle would snap or crack and start leaking but it never has. No leakage of any kind anywhere on the bottle for me. Hook at the top is sturdy and clips well to anything or provides a nice finger hold if you need to pile stuff up on your hands. 10/10 would buy again. Took this with me on my school trip to the Galápagos Islands and it withstood the intense sun, heat, roughness of hiking, and being squished and battered between airplanes and boats. One of our tour guides even had one in a blue color and he said he has had it for a long time and works great. This bottle will not fail you and I highly recommend it for anything from taking to class to deep woods camping to a day at an amusement park. When buying most things on amazon, I like to do some EXTENSIVE review reading on the items and compare them to other similar items I am considering. I am happy to say that this one was my final choice and I haven’t had any reason to regret it yet. I hope this review covers the things you find important and saves you time on your hunt for a quality item. :)

Very handy! And some advice.

I have been using the Vapur water bottles for 7 years and love them. I've tried some 20 different bottle designs and stopped looking after the Vapur. In fact, it is the only water bottle I use, 24x7 all year. Compared to other water bottles, the quick flip open and smooth drinking sluice stays pretty clean, it is very light weight, it gets smaller when it holds less water, and is unbreakable. I highly recommend it. I want to share some practical experience: If you roll it up or just keep it empty for a long time, it could become moldy inside. In a humid environment when traveling in Hong Kong, this happened to me. Better to keep it filled with water. Or, if it is empty, unscrew the top and let it dry out. I normally never try to roll it up.. it takes little space when empty and flat anyway. About leakage: It will not leak unless the stopper wears out or the top was not screwed in tightly or there is dirt jamming the threads or o-ring. In my experience, the stopper lasts a good 2 years of daily use. Good practice: before putting it in a bag that will not hold it vertical, turn it upside down and shake it for 20 sec. If drops keep coming out (ignore the little bit of water that can be in the two V shaped nooks where the top screws in) with every shake, then it has started to leak. The Vapur site sells replacement tops. The stopper will wear out before the body. When my previous top started leaking recently, I looked at it carefully and the outside ridges of the stopper were visibly uneven/worn out. Better way to detect stopper leaking early: fill the bottle halfway, leaving some air inside. Snap the lid closed and squeeze with a few ounces of force. If air hisses out, then it will leak. This will detect slow leaking possibilities before the 'turn upside down and shake" method. A new bottle will not let air hiss out. I only clean it by hand, not in the dishwasher. A Q-tip can help clean around the stopper.

Not very practical

Not very practical unless only concern is storage size and weight . I didn't expect much performance in keeping at temperature, I was correct. Doesn't hold enough volume to be used more than an hour or two. Biggest issue for me is cleaning. It doesn't hold a shape allowing airflow to drip dry. Packaging said dishwasher safe. I don't know how that would work. When empty it's a flat piece of plastic. It's not even convenient to drink out of due to the floppyness. I regret the purchase and not returning the product before use.

Not the best for me

Yes, it's compact; yes, it saves space; yes, it's convenient; yes, it's light and packable; yes, it's easy to drink from it; I can see how the leak proof concept could fail with constant use and cleaning (the O ring would wear out quickly because it is so thin). Cleaning it - I think the best way to clean it would be to soak it with water and vinegar. A bigger brush head would be very difficult to get in to clean it. In the end it is plastic, it is bendable. You have to hold it just right to be able to drink from it without spilling all over yourself. It does give off a plasticky smell when you drink from it. It's not the worst reusable bottle I've ever used, but it's not the best for me.

I’m basing my review on a 2 weeks of off-roading and light hiking abroad using the bottle. Overall I’d say this is a great bottle. Packs well, and easy to use when needed. Perfect for flights because you fold it in your bag, and after you pass the security checks you can unfold, fill with water and enjoy. Some reviews mentioned the color or outside coating wearing off, mine was heavily used, holds perfectly well. There a few really small issues I have with it. 1. As mentioned in other reviews, if you like your drink cold, forget about it. The contents temperature becomes room temperature in about 10-15 min, regardless if you have it inside the bag, or outside in the sun. 2. I got the 750ml version, and I think it might be a bit small, since the spout feels somewhat large, so you go through the content really quickly. If you have the room in your bag, get the 1L version. 3. Takes a long while to dry after cleaning. These issues don’t really bother me, and I find myself using this on a day to day basis, so I’d say I’m happy with my purchase.
