Needed these just to fit the newly purchased clothes in the suitcase for the trip home. Worked perfectly, didn't lose vacuum. The little pump moves very little air volume but it works well enough with some effort. The bags are a bit thin and I'm not sure I'd want to use these in an environment where they'd get thrown around or need to provide any protection. You need to have some sort of fluffy or breathable item under the suction port. I had an issue getting air out of a bag that had a raincoat which sealed up against the hole. ... show more

Out of the 8 bags purchased, 7 worked great, 1 was a dud and the air wouldn't come out. The kit did not come with instructions, so I'm providing them: To use these bags you simply fill them up to the line indicated on the bag, not higher. Then for faster and more effective suction, use a vacuum attachment to suck the air out of the bag by first unscrewing the circular white cap found on the top front portion of each bag, then placing your circular vacuum attachment on top and turning on your vacuum. I recommend kneeling or sitting on the bag and pressing around it while using the vacuum, to get the most air out and to help it shrink the most. After you suck the air out you just screw the white circular cap back on. The kit does come with a pump, but it takes much longer to get the air out of the bag utilizing that, which is why I recommend using a circular vacuum attachment; the one on my Hoover tunnel swivel vacuum worked great. We used these bags to hold bed comforters :twin (2), queen (1) and king (2) sized, blankets: twin (6), queen (1) and king (4) and throw (6) sized, and 6 pillows. We put them in our 26' moving truck as fillers to help prevent things from shifting during transit. They also took up far less space being so compacted down. Upon arrival to a much colder state, 1600 miles away, we were pleased that they were still tight and compacted. I think and hope we will be able to get a second use out of them as we may be moving again in 2 months. These may not look as nice as official Zip-Loc ones I've bought in the past, however, they appear to be more durable and hold the same amount of items. So I can recommend them. I wasn't sure about getting these after reading reviews. Glad I did. The tape measurer reads about 14 inches (the pile was more than twice that). My husband's grandma made quilts. She lived to nearly 100. So we have many many quilts. We live in a very small home (one closet type small) ALL of my closet floor was quilts. Queen size. Full size and a pile of home made baby quilts. Then sheets and pillow cases and a couple bed comforters for queen / kind bed. I had no room so I looked into these bags. The ones you see have been sitting here for 3 days and haven't let any air in as far as I can tell. I bought a bag of 8 jumbo sized bags. I used 4 ( could have used 3 but I was being very careful only putting a couple quilts and a few sheets or baby quilts in each. The last one I tested its limits. I put 1 large quilt 1 large comforter 3 sheets 2 pillow cases and 1 baby /toddler quilt. There are a total of 6 large quilts (heavy homemade quilts with padding between) 2 comforters (queen) 7 baby crib/toddler bed quilts 8 sheets and 4 pillow cases in this 14 inch high stack. It was all way way taller before the bags. I used a shop vac to suck the air out (my vacuum died last month) The reviews kept saying the bags spilt or busted. But I haven't had any problems . I was careful when loading the bags. I left the bag laying on the floor and gently slid one blanket at a time inside. Maybe some of the others just did them like trash bags and dumped it? Or maybe they traveled ... I could see these not holding up for travel. They do seem too delicate for that but they may hold. I wouldn't buy them for that though. Over all I'm pleased so far . This will help preserve these special quilts and I really appreciate that. ... show more

I have tons of jackets as someone who lives in a very snowy state and I have a lot of stuffed animals so these bags were perfect for storing all of these in preparation for my move. I was able to fit all of my winter coats (2 thick jackets, 2 thick and long jackets), sweaters, and winter accessories all in one bag. I was surprisingly also able to fit all of my stuffed animals into two of the bags (I have ~15 plushies with various sizes ranging from a 32 inch squishmallow to tiny hand-sized ones). All of the bags worked well when they first arrived and had a great seal on them. The bags maintained compressed for the month that they were in storage. However, after the big move, all of the bags will slowly inflate with air now, so I will say the bags are not the most durable. ... show more
