This wasn't a gift and I won't have it long enough to comment on sturdiness. Sound quality is the issue since this is a musical toy. The keys that actually rang were quite mellow and pleasant. However, most keys simply gave a dull thud. Screws which attached keys were often bent or in too tightly.
