I needed a bearing with corrosion resistance for an furnace inducer motor application. Humidity is present in the environment, and the original bearings failed due to rust formation. This stainless steel bearing appears to meet the corrosion resistance requirement, but upon installation and testing the bearings overheated in a motor rotating at 3450 RPM within a few minutes of powering up. The bearings were subsequently removed, and a new set from the lot of 10 ordered was prepared by first removing the blue seal using a razor blade tip and carefully prying the blue seal loose from the bearing mating surface. Red tacky automotive chassis and wheel bearing grease was installed in the cage area between the races of the bearing, and then the seal was reinstalled. Next the bearings were installed in the motor and tested in operation. The result was bearings operating at the nominal temperature of this motor. Conclusion: If this bearing is used in a motor, it is highly recommended to replace the existing lubricant with a high quality automotive grease before installation. Otherwise the bearing will overheat quickly and fail. ... show more
