I am a beginner and don't' want to spend a lot of money while practicing and figuring out if I want to do this on a regular basis. This packet provided a nice size size and nice number of canvas boards for the price. If I continue to get better, I may want to upgrade. I notice that smaller boards of similar price and quality don't seem to bend or warp, but while these are advertised as resisting warp, after a coat of gesso, I noted a curve to the middle. Also even though they say they are tipple gesso prepared, acrylic paint applied directly to the canvas as sent, tends to rub off. I have not yet applied paint to the board that is bending that I applied an extra coat of gesso to, so I don't know if that will make a difference in paint adhesion. I use canvas panels a lot, mostly purchasing from the local big box art supply stores. this panel is super sturdy. Way thicker than what I am used to, solid and well-made. I like the panels very much, they're heavy duty and pretty smooth not too toothy. What I didn't like was the way they were packed for shipment. They were packed loosely and the box was all distorted by time it was delivered , the corner on one end was smashed. Not bad enough for me to return it, but it did make me think twice. ... show more
