I’m not entirely sure if the material is real wood or a high-quality imitation, but honestly, you’d never know the difference—they look and feel authentic. Overall, I’m very happy with this item. This three pack of floating shelves is useful. The boards are made of pressboard and the brackets are metal. The boards have premade holes for the brackets making it easy. All hardware needed is included. No tools are provided. I used a regular Phillips screwdriver to attach the brackets to the board and then a hammer and nail to make small holes in the wall and a drill to attach the shelves to the wall. I was lucky enough to have studs at the right places, so I only used the long screws to put the shelves up. They are sturdy, especially with four screws each. They feel like they could hold books that aren't too heavy. I plan on using these to display lighter objects. The shelves do look good except one of mine had a small chip on it but that wasn't a big deal to me. These were not at all difficult to put together and not hard to put on the wall. They will make nice display shelves.

I am an Amazon Vine reviewer. Therefore, I always give 100% my honest opinion on each product, good or bad. With that being said, these floating shelves were exactly what I needed. I was looking for the perfect thing to keep my materials up and away from my toddler. These are extremely sturdy and strong. Very well constructed. They were really simple to put together and put on the wall. You won’t be disappointed if you purchase these. I may just have to get more for every room in my house. Great value for the price. I highly, highly recommend!

The mounting brackets feel solid. They don't feel flimsy. The set has hardware for mounting on various wall surfaces. The screws seem a bit thin to me, but I usually have star head construction screws on hand and will use those. The boards have different patterns, which give a real wood look. Without measuring, they seem about 3/4 of an inch thick.
