My husband got these for his niece to use when she comes to visit. There are a few things I don't think he took into consideration. First, we live in Manhattan. Kids don't just generally go out skating in the streets unless and until they are at least into their teen years. His niece is 12! Second, we live in a small one bedroom apartment. Even if she COULD use them in the apartment, the neighbors below us would have an absolute fit. And where she would skate in a small apartment is anyone's guess. Third, I question whether this is appropriate for a 12 year old girl, who is much more likely to be thinking about boys than about unicorn skates. Honestly, the skates are so childlike it's hard for me to imagine a 12 year old using them; I would think she would more likely be just mortified. We will certainly find out. Having said all this, IF I had a 4 or 5 year old who wanted to skate, I think these appear to be well made, sufficiently cheesy and tacky, and colorful enough that they would be an appropriate gift. But just make sure you take into account the age of the girl, and whether she thinks of herself more as a kid, or as a young woman. Only one of those is going to love these skates.

I got these for my 3 year old daughter. She wears size 7.5 and we were able to easily adjust these to fit her. They are super cute and my daughter loves staring at all the different things on the skate. Surprisingly, the wheels even light up and we all thought that feature was so cool. These have shoe laces, a velcro strap and the plastic strap that snaps into place, providing a lot of support and securing everything in place. The quality is top notch and I haven't found a single issue with it. We have been practicing and soon she will be able to skate on her own.

These are so dang cute, I can't help squealing when I see them. The wheels light up! These are very well made, we are a roller blading family and when I saw toddler skates, I just couldn't help myself, I had to get them. My toddler is okay with them, they're a little rough on her calves area,but what skates aren't? I would highly recommend these.
