    • Crashes often
Expensive even at $130. It is one of the few ESR meters in this price range that has 100 KHz that I know of. There's the Peak ESR70, Mastech MS5308, DER EE DE-5000. I liked the BK Precision 879B but not at $300. For the poor there is the ebay MESR-100 for around $40. The UT612 is an OK unit. It's a big meter considering how hollow it feels. There isn't much inside either. My biggest gripe about it is that every now and then, when I'm changing settings it will crash and turn off. It doesn't remember your previous settings so you do a lot of button smashing each time you switch modes. It would be nice to see capacitance and ESR at the same time. You have to press five buttons just to switch from reading capacitance to ESR at 100 KHz. Very annoying and then the unit crashes from all the button presses. If I could I would try the other units I listed. If the UT612 didn't crash then I can forgive the high price tag and the amount of button smashing. I feel I got a defective unit or a poorly engineered one. ... show more
