I bought these protectors four months ago for a seasonal rental, specifically to protect the new high-end mattresses I had put on the beds. Rentals have different people sleeping in them every week, and constant changes of bedding. I spent a lot on the mattresses, and don't look forward to replacing them too soon. I purchased twin, full, and queen protectors, and put them over the mattress pads, hoping to protect both the pads and the mattresses. They have a very nice feel to them, nothing like the crunchy, plastic protectors I recall in rentals growing up. The backside, or working side, is a soft, vinyl-like surface that almost feels too thin to be waterproof. I tested its waterproofness with a tablespoon of water just to be sure. It's important to point out that the waterproof liner extends only across the surface, not the elastic sides, so they won't necessarily prevent a stain from something that hits the mattress on its edge or side. The surface, or the side next to the sheet, is a fine, plush nap. The protectors fit easily over my moderately-deep mattresses and substantial mattress pads. They feel nice under the sheets. The real test was the week I checked the beds and found one protector stained in multiple places with blood, chocolate, or some other I-don't-want-to-know substance. When I lifted it to check the mattress pad, the pad was its original snow white. Nothing went through. I put a little stain remover on the protector and threw it in the wash, tumbled briefly and finished drying on the line. It came out of the wash as good as new; in fact, I might not have needed the stain remover. The fit on the bed didn't change - a big relief, as I think we've all experienced that great-fitting mattress pad that suddenly doesn't fit after its first wash. This incident prompted me to order another set of protectors so I'd always have a spare on hand. Since I've not actually slept on the beds myself, I can't comment on whether it sleeps hot, but it doesn't look like anyone has removed them from the beds either - something I used to do when those awful plastic liners were just too miserable to deal with.

I ordered this for our king bed and was impressed with how soft it is. It definitely does its job and does not make any crinkle/rattle noise when you move. I have washed it countless times and it has not cracked or torn. Fits the bed very well.

UPDATE: Both kids were sick with a stomach flu recently and unfortunately put our mattress cover to the ultimate test! Happy (and impressed) to say our mattress remained completely protected and the cover survived as good as new through the wash. -------------- I have a brand new king sized mattress and two little kids who end up sneaking into our bed several nights a week. I wanted to make sure our mattress was thoroughly protected. This cover works perfectly! It truly is completely noiseless and is extremely soft. The sides are made of a stretchy fabric, kind of like a thick nylon, that keeps the mattress pad firmly in place. Best of all, it really does protect against leaks. I tested it by pouring water on it and all the water just beaded up, absolutely none makes it through (see picture for example). The underside of the mattress pad almost seems to consist of a rubbery material. You do not feel it at all while the mattress pad is on, but it's extremely effective. Laundering does take some extra care. I wash it separately on a warm cycle with a cool rinse, then run the extended spin cycle three times at the end. I tumble dry on low with two dry white towels to help absorb any excess water and run the dryer for about one and a half cycles. It's worth all the laundering fuss though. It does its job and comes out just as soft and effective as it was before. We're very happy!

I purchased this waterproof mattress cover to protect the mattress in our camper from sand, sweat, lake water, dog fur, etc. It fit the short "camper queen" sized mattress perfectly and so far has protected the mattress just as it should! The first 1.5 weeks it was on the mattress I had the bed made with camper queen sized sheets and the sheets kept slipping off, but the mattress cover stayed on very well. After our first camping trip I switched to using regular Queen sized sheets and just tucked them under to make them fit and we had no troubles at all with either the sheets or the mattress cover coming untucked, so I believe the sheets slipping out originally was caused by the size of the sheets and not any issue with the mattress cover. Both my hubby and I found the mattress cover to be comfortable. It did not make any crinkle noises and did not seem to have any effect on sleeping temperatures. As usual my hubby is a hot sleeper and I am a cold sleeper, but we were both comfortable sleeping on the cover on both hot and cold nights. We did not find the cover to be either too thick or too thin. All in all this cover seems to do exactly what it should and protects the mattress. We have not spilled anything on it and don't have children to wet the bed, so I can't say for sure if it's 100% waterproof, but it did keep sand and sweat from soaking into the mattress. I'm happy with my purchase and would buy this exact cover again if the need arose.

This has saved my kid's mattress countless times. It can withstand A LOT of liquid. I machine wash and machine dry it and it is still in awesome condition after 15 months of use (some weeks, it is washed multiple times). As a bonus, it is incredibly soft. I typically don't leave reviews, but this deserves it.
