After the third or fourth roller skating birthday in a row for my kids I was unimpressed with having to pony up for the rentals, and figured if nothing else I would be breaking even by getting my own. Skates came with additional bearings, the "key" of 'I've got a brand new pair of roller skates' fame, and a handy carrying bag. I'm a half size and to their credit the roller skates fit just fine. Wheels were tight out of the box, and they spin quite well when actually roller skating. My only complaint is the base of one of the skates, where the fabric that sits underneath the laces, isn't sewn equally and can cause some discomfort if you're not careful when putting it on. Glowing wheels are a definite plus; 30 years ago I would have been the coolest kid on the planet if I had them. Not being a pro roller skater I'm sure there are better options for serious skaters, but for racing around the roller rink they'll do just fine. Have not tried them outdoors but presumably would work well there ... show more

These are great for a beginner, these black skates look sharp with the light up wheels. I think these should hold up awhile, and I did have to tighten the wheels so that I didn't crash into someone or something since they seemed a little fast for me. The fit is true to size so if you are a half size you'll have to go up or down in sizes since I didn't have a half size option. I am a 7 1/2 so I got a 7 and it's fine as long as I wear thinner socks. I sized down instead of up because I didn't want my fit sliding all around. ... show more

I had previously purchased roller blades with the 4 wheels in a straight line, however it instantly gave me foot pain and was so hard to balance. Note, I am a beginner and have not skated since I was a child. These are comfortable to wear and were not painful to wear. I typically wear size 10 mens and wide foot. I was able to balance better and definitely had to tighten the wheel screws because I am still learning and need more resistance to go slower while skating.
