The media could not be loaded. We used the Dekor plastic diaper pail before this and absolutely hated it. Flimsy, bags always caught and tore on the mechanism, plastic also absorbs odors. Ordered this and it’s night and day. I love that we can use regular trash bags and it fits A LOT of diapers with zero smell. The lid is high quality and has a nice seal on it. I also like that the opening slides back and it can be locked. We received ours well packaged and it seems pretty durable to me. I’ve seen some reviews of people saying they’re not sturdy but who is kicking around their diaper pails?! This is all around great value, easy to use, and works great. UPDATE: After almost 3 months of use (my kiddo is now eating solids so her diapers are stinkier) this pail is still working great! Of course when you open it, it’s going to smell. When it’s closed though, it’s fine. I also have a habit of opening the windows every morning and keeping an air purifier near the diaper pail. There is zero smell when lid is closed. Easy to open/shut and lock features on the lid. Love that it takes any regular size trash bag versus being forced to buy specific bags. It’s sturdy and easy to use. I do wish the hole was a bit larger but would still highly recommend!

    • Got rid of diaper genie

I had been given a diaper genie from a friend. Within 1 week of bringing home baby, my husband insisted the diaper genie was broken and asked me to get something different. The issue with the genie were numerous but the main was the genie was wobbly when trying to pull the bags out, and the bags often tore when replacing. This has solved both problems! Because it’s metal and heavier than the plastic genie, it is sturdier. Additionally, because you can use regular trash bags, we haven’t had any issues with the bags tearing. This is one of my favorite aspects bc it’s 1 less thing to purchase. The capacity also appears to be slightly more. Overall the capacity of diapers on both is somewhat disappointing, as we have to empty it 2-3x a week, and only do about half the diaper changes in the nursery. Although I get the impression we may be going through more diapers on a daily basis than average. I would mention that we have nearly overstuffed it a few times, and I’ve been nervous about ripping the bag. However, if it’s over stuffed, I’ll just tie the bag, and the reach down between can and bag and move some of the diapers up. (The bags we use are always larger than the can since we use the same ones I buy for our kitchen trash.) I have also been very impressed with the smell. We didn’t have the diaper genie long enough for me to comment on smell but I noticed the other day how well this works to keep the smell in, when I opened it to put in a dirty diaper and was overwhelmed by the stink inside! When properly closed you don’t smell anything! However, you will be subject to that stink when changing out the bags. Lastly, I love that it came in colors. The safe green looks adorable in the woodland themed nursery. Being able to get a color was basically just a bonus that put this diaper bin over the top. Great product and simple to use. No need for special bags, just a standard trash bag works. We'll toss a couple extra in the bottom to make changing it a breeze. While it does lock in the stink, you still have to open the lid to put the next diaper in and the stink will rush out at you! There isn't a sliding door inside like the other brands that prevent this. Good thing it's rather small so the diapers don't stack up too long. But when the oder does come out it tends to linger, so beware. As our favorite TV program says, quick like a bunny, quick quick quick! It has an easy locking function so when my curious toddler wonders over to it he can't open it and toss his poop around.... he's been close! Now I always lock it when we're in the nursery. No goodie bag sensory play today! All that being said, we own 2 now. It's worth it not to buy one more specialty item with more useless plastic waste. ... show more

This is a great diaper pale, much better than the ones that require a special bag that you have to cut and tie back together which is a huge pain. The only thing is that I wish this was a bit taller so I didn't have to bend over so much to put a diaper in. Its a bit shorter than I expected. They should make a taller version. ... show more

I bought this for my elderly parents to use as a bathroom garbage can for their incontinence underwear. It's easy for them to use, as the deposit opening slides to open and close. You also can lock the slide opening if you want. A 13 gallon bag easily fits and locks inside the can, and it definitely keeps odor out of the bathroom when the slide door is closed. Having one less specialty item to worry about refills for is a godsend when life is coming at you so fast postpartum. The fact that this can use any standard kitchen trash bag means that a huge roll from the grocery store will see us through months of diaper changes (and any new parent can tell you, you’re going to go through A LOT of diapers and therefore a lot of bags). It traps the smells, and the locking lid keeps my curious dogs out of the bin. Plus it comes in great color options; the green is true to picture. The only complaint I have: it’s so awesome at trapping smell that we have sometimes put off emptying it and if you keep pushing it full of more diapers (easy to do) it becomes nearly impossible to pull the bag out without tearing.
