  • Start your homestead/prepping veterinary library with this book!
This guide is essential if you are planning to be self-sufficient with pets, whether its a homestead or prepping scenario. Not only does it give you the step-by-step guide to the U.S. Army Veterinary Services standard of care, for Military Working Dogs (MWD), but it provides so may additional resources to look into that you could practically build a veterinary library and medication stock for your homestead with the resources provided, in this one book. Education included in the guide includes: equipment and facilities to consider for training, housing and care standards, medical supplies, preventative medicine and standard veterinary procedures, as just the basics. Readers will learn the U.S. Army procedure for physical conditioning, exercise and animal expectations before and during deployment, which is useful information, if you want to train a truly strong working dog. The guide addresses medical emergencies and addresses behavioral disorders, which is a really interesting chapter. The emergency medicine chapter is really valuable for handling critical care situations when a veterinarian isn’t readily available. There are several appendices, but the one on health records is something every pet owner can do. I plan to recreate these records, for all my pets, and store them in our homestead binder; particularly, since we perform all the regular vaccinations, on the homestead, ourselves. This book is a serious read, with lots of abbreviations and terms that take a while to get used to. But, the reader quickly adapts, and it’s 100% worth the work for the amount of knowledge you get. If you want to start addressing the dogs in your prep plans or on your homestead this is the book to start with. ... show more

  • Doesn’t compute
Book contents does not contain anything regarding MWD vet care. Instead it has writing on warfare and the gray state.

  • Great book for dog owners!
This is a re-formatting of an existing U.S. Military dog working/care book, and as such, it can be a little dry to read - especially in the beginning when they're describing the canine organization and use in the military. However, once you get into it, there is a great amount of in-depth knowledge on canine medical training and how to care for your dog. Really good reference book for pooch-specific supplies and medications, diseases, ailments, behavior and training issues, even (god forbid) surgery and dentistry. ... show more
