I switched to this TYR silicone cap after getting tired of replacing cheap latex caps, and it’s been a clear upgrade. I use it for lap training up to 5 times a week, and it’s held up to that kind of regular use without any signs of wear — no thinning, no tears, no dulling of the color even after several months. Fit-wise, it’s snug enough to stay put for a full hour of swimming without slipping or riding up, but it doesn’t feel like it’s clamping down on my head the way some silicone caps do. I can put it on and basically forget about it for the rest of the session. The silicone itself feels sturdier and more substantial than latex — it doesn’t stretch out over time the way latex does, which is probably why the fit has stayed so consistent. This is the second time I purchased this item. The first one fit perfectly. lasted longer than a year, so i was pretty happy with it. It eventually broke, so I decided to replace with the same. The second one is uncomfortably tight on my head.
