If you don't want to pay for a electrician this is your solution. I have three that are remote with batteries and are rechaged by solar. Been using one for three years with zero issues.

Worst customer service!!! Do NOT update your email on the Ring.com account unless you are planning on not using your cameras for over 4 hours. I tried to update to my new email account and received a message to verify the new email. I clicked on the link for an email to be sent. After an hour, NO EMAIL. Clicked the link to resend the verification email. Again, no email. Called customer service, and all they said is that it can take up to 4 hours for the email to come through!! WTH?!?! And then was told that after 4 hours, I can call back if I haven't received the email. I have no use of my cameras or front doorbell now, and who knows when I will have them back!!! I am currently planning on sending every camera back (I have 7 of them!), and going with another company. RING IS TERRIBLE!!! // Here is some advice - do not call Ring customer service. I contacted them through their Facebook page. I was contacted immediately. They were able to send the email I needed immediately, and I got my cameras back on track! I upgraded to 4 stars - I would have given 5, but they need to work on the customer service you receive when calling customer service. Not everyone has Facebook, and you shouldn't have to go to Facebook to get good service.

Unless you are going to get your cam wired you should get the solar panel. You won't have to charge up the battery or have a spare battery to use while the other one charges. I have one for home and at work.

We have been using this solar panel to keep our camera charged for approx a year. Held up great. Charges batteries very well. Camera works very well. I have never had a problem with ring products.

I previously owned the earlier version of the Spotlight Cam. It worked perfectly until one cold winter day it stopped working. I charged both batteries and reinstalled. It only said that one side was working. I switched the batteries around and it still said that only one side for the battery was working. I tried everything to reconnect but it just wouldn't connect. Called customer service and is he took me through all previous steps to get the camera working. No luck so I ordered this one. It works okay so far. It detects walking motion in the zone that I set it for. It occasionally gets my car when I pull up in front of the garage. It's weird that it gets a kid walking up the driveway but not the huge car. I had no problem with the prior version that used to get the squirrel running across my driveway. The area that holds the battery is different also. Before you just sort of pulled the cover down and it was quick and easy to change the batteries. New version there's a button to push to unlock it and you have to twist. Another change is that the battery cover comes off completely. I know at some point I'll drop the cover when charging the batteries because I'm a klutz! 😭 I didn't have to change the batteries yet, but it was tricky when installing the batteries for the first time because you know instructions are vague. I'll see how easy it'll be when it's 9 degrees outside. I'm waiting to see if I can get the lights to come on with motion detection at night. I didn't notice it when I drove up last night because I have other lights that come on with motion. I will check tonight. If not another call to customer service 😞 I like the new bracket that holds it. It's not so easy for someone to come and take it down. It was easy to set up and install. If the lights come on with the motion sensor I will cancel my rating. P.S. I can turn the lights on through the app. I just want the added security of them come on at night with motion.
