My 2009 VW GLI has need both of the original mirrors replaced due to them corroding and snapping. I'm not sure what metal VW used in there original ones but it seems to corrode as they do not paint it. These Aftermarket ones fit great and are easy to install. The metal frames are also painted so I do not see and more corrosion issues. I did not paint the cover I swapped it for the original painted cover and it fit with no issues. Perfect replacement on a 2006 VW Jetta TDI

I broke the mirror on my 2006 VW Jetta TDI. This was a match. Easy to install myself, albeit I did it in 19 degrees weather, which I do not recommend. You have to remove the inner door panel and some trim pieces to access and area. I suggest you have trim removal tools at your disposal. The wiring is plug and play. Very simple. Having done this myself, I would probably not ever pay a mechanic or dealership to replace one in the future, know that I know just how easy it is. Note: it's primed, not painted. This mirror did a great job as a replacement for my car. It fit very well; only issue was difficulty in 'stuffing' in some of the weatherstripping around the door flange. Other than that, it is visually identical to OEM as well as all its functionality.

It was easy to paint and then VW made it a little hard to install, since it is really easy to drop a screw into the door (and hard to remove) when installing. Overall, it took me about an hour to install. If you know what you are doing, you could do it in 15 minutes. I spent 20 minutes trying to get the screw I dropped out of the door... ... show more

Looks just like the OEM side mirror, except this one has a metal frame to support the mirror which to me is a PLUS!. It also came with the indicator light which was awesome. If you are thinking about mixing parts such as the light, cover from this mirror with the OEM it would fit however you may have to cut/shave off some plastic for everything to fit just right.
