I’m travel a lot and have invested in duplicates of my essentials in my travel bag. This charger is small, lightweight, but still entirely functional. It is one less thing to worry about when packing. While there are cheaper options, I’ve had a few and they do not work as well and have not lasted. If you are looking for a home charging station, this would work but I’d go with a different one

This is a 2-in-1 MagSafe (MFi certified 15w wireless charger) plus Apple Watch charger similar to the MagSafe Duo that Apple sold back in 2020 when they introduced the MagSafe charging standard. This is a better version though, made from higher quality materials that are more durable against wear and tear, and better suited for travel. A USB C cable is included in the box, which is how this device, itself, is powered. The two halves magnetically attached to one another, to allow it to fold up with only the aluminum exterior being exposed, this makes it easy to take with you and a carrying pouch is also included. This will also make a nice bedside table charger as well, since it only requires one USB C cable to power both sides. This will cut down on a cluttered setup with loads of cables spread out everywhere. Make sure you use at least a 27 watt charger to power this, as it outputs up to 15w just from the MagSafe side and another 5w for the Apple Watch side. If you use to weak of an adapter with this, it will limit the speed of the MagSafe charger to standard Qi speeds (5-7.5 watts). You could also charge things like AirPods on the MagSafe side, as most modern AirPods support either Qi or MagSafe charging standards. The current AirPod Pros will even work on the side for the Apple Watch, but only the second generation AirPod Pros will work for that. Twelve South is a brand like Belkin, Satechi, or Native Union- meaning a premium brand with high quality products targeted at Apple users, with a price to match. You are paying a premium for this product but keep in mind that most cheaper wireless chargers on the market (even magnetic ones) are not certified to work with MagSafe charging standard, they are really just Qi chargers with magnets and cannot output more than 7.5 watts wirelessly to a connected iPhone. How much you value that or think it’s worth is subjective and you will have to make up your own mind. But it’s not uncommon at all for chargers with this certification to be priced at around $100 or more, because of the licensing fees involved. I personally think it’s worth it if you already spent the money on an Apple Watch and iPhone, since you want to make sure that you are charging them safely with good quality chargers.

I have been looking for a portable charger for my watch and phone, and when this showed up on Vine I decided to try it out. The Butterfly comes very nicely packaged and oozes premium product. The packaging in lovely and the opening experience is what you would expect from an item in this price range. Included in the box is the charger, cable, various plugs for international travel and a carry bag. Everything seems very well made and the instructions are clear and concise. In use there are a variety of options that you have for charging: - Open fully and charge phone and watch (you can tilt one side up so watch is on its side) - Fold back on itself and charge a watch / ipod case - Fold back on itself and charge phone, using the phone horizontally (Note in the pictures that the phone is an iPhone Mini, so the charger looks larger than it is in real life) Charging works as expected and the magnets are very strong for Magsafe usage. Pros: Very well built with a sturdy feel Multi-country usage with included plugs Charge all of Apple Magsafe products (except iPad) Fairly compact for travel. One-cord to charge everything on your nightstand. A major plus if you stay in a lot of hotels Cons: Expensive. I think a sub $100 price point is a better value for this product. This is more expensive than the Anker MagGo and does not offer 3 in1 charging Bulky charger that is bigger than most of the high output chargers I have from name brands I am concerned that the case will get scratched if you store all of the plugs in the bag with the Butterly. Since I rarely travel internationally, I leave those in the box. This also cuts down on the size of storage bag when traveling. Overall, I think this is a great product, let down by its high price. It is quality, and if its functionality is what you need, you can't go wrong with this purchase.

Twelve South makes beautiful products that are wonderful compliments to the products they charge. As opposed to many products which try to be everything to everyone, this one is minimal, compact, and completely focused on being the best wireless charging solution. I love that it charges at the full 15 watts supported by newer iPhones. While the product would be fine with just charging your Apple Watch flat, I really appreciate that it pops up to allow for vertical charging. This allows it work as a bedside clock and also supports watch bands that won't do well when charging flat. I appreciate that the charger comes with a little velvet bag that is large enough to hold the cable and the charger. This is now my dedicated travel charger. I love that I can charge my phone, Apple Watch and my airpods. Overall, I'm very happy with the "Twelve South Butterfly 2-in-1 USB-C MagSafe Charger | Compact Travel-Friendly Design Fast-Charges iPhone and Apple Watch".
