Out of the box, this chain has a substantial weight to it. It does not feel hollow or flimsy. The gold tone looks rich and warm, and at a glance it definitely passes for something more expensive. The box clasp is convenient and easier to use one handed compared to a lobster clasp. Once closed, it feels secure. I wore it casually and at the gym without irritation. It did not turn my skin green. That said, it reacts to magnets and there are no traditional gold stamps. So realistically, you are buying a stainless steel chain with a gold finish. If you understand that going in, it is a solid fashion piece. Long term durability of the finish is the big unknown. Nice and thick, but not too heavy. It has a good feel to it when worn, and the clasp is really easy to put it on and off of your neck without hassle, but still holds firm. I've always liked the idea of these simple gold chain necklaces and this fulfills that for me. I can't vouch for the gold in it as the cardboard holder that was attached to the necklace said stainless steel on it, and I'm not seeing any stamps (which are required) that indicate what kind of gold is in it (and the necklace sticks to my magnets), so if you're looking for real gold, I have my doubts that this has any, and is the main reason for my removal of a star. ... show more

The chain looks nice at first glance and has a good weight to it, but the quality didn’t quite meet my expectations. While it’s advertised as non-tarnish and gold filled, the color started to look dull after a short period of wear, even with light use. It doesn’t have the rich gold tone I was hoping for. The box clasp works, but it feels a bit stiff and not as smooth as it should be, which makes putting it on and taking it off harder than expected. The chain itself also feels more like coated stainless steel than a true gold-filled piece. Overall, it’s okay for occasional wear. It looks stylish and pairs well with outfit. Pros: This chain is very nice, and I am impressed that it hasn't tarnished, and he's worn it several times. The color is a nice tone of gold, and the necklace is stylish but not too flashy. It is the perfect length for when he wears his zip-up jackets or casual shirts. It has a good weight to it, and the high-quality coating seems very durable. This is a really beautiful chain that I think I will really enjoy for a long time. It feels solid in the hand and has a fantastic color. For reference the silverware in the picture is also gold.
