This was my first paint by number and it was fun. My first suggestion is use different paint brushes. The ones that come with it are not quality. I didn't switch out my brushes until about 75% of the way through. Also, you can see it doesn't turn out exactly like the picture. The colors are more muted and it is not quite as detailed as you would expect. It has a haphazard or blurred look to it. I am decently happy with how it turned out though. It does come on a good canvas, but I suggest ironing it before you start. I worked on it for several hours a day for about 3 or 4 days. Most importantly, it was a fun activity to do. The media could not be loaded. The canvas has a lot of wrinkles and creases you can’t get out to flatten properly for painting. It should have come rolled up instead of folded. Not worth it!

I got this as a gift for my adult daughter who lives with us. She is mom to our 4 year old autistic grandson, but on her time off -- she likes to craft sometimes and she's extremely artistic. I thought this would be a great thing for her to work on a little at a time, especially during the cooler months when we're all inside for the most part. Then when finished, she can hang in her room/bathroom. It comes with everything you need and is a beautiful piece. The instructions are easy to follow and it even allows for some individuality if you wish. Remember that it is frameless, so you'll want to get a frame to stretch it over. The description is a little confusing, in that it says 'colorful oil painting', but then also says acrylic. The paint is acrylic, not oil -- which is much easier to clean up and is non-toxic (important if you've got kids and/or dogs). I think this makes a great gift for anyone, as just about anyone can do this and feel accomplished. It is also a gift of self care time...which all of us need, but seldom take for ourselves.
