Purchased this as a replacement bag for one that I dearly loved (lots of pockets and compartments, combination roll-a-board and backpack) that was STOLEN! When I first received my new Travelpro Bold I thought it didn't offer much interior room and it seemed bulky. However just returned from my first trip with this bag and couldn't be happier. First, really solidly made and will protect your stuff (I am an airline manager and know good bags from not-so-good ones). Sturdy, sits upright nicely (some fall over too easily), holds more than you think, wheels a bit stiff but solid with good control - and that's what you want (spinner wheels break off very easily). Thoughtfully designed pockets, useful handles top, front, and side. Well priced and a good value for money. I use it for business now but will be equally suitable for leisure use when I retire (hopefully soon!) ... show more

Purchased 2 of these and our friends purchased 2 for a trip to Ireland, in and out of car every couple days as we traveled from town to town or pub to pub! The case roles easy, held up well, and are nice looking. Soft cases were perfect as we were able to squeeze them into the back of our midsize SUV without any issue. I didn't purchase blindly, as i was able to find a store that carried them and went to check them out before spending the money. All 4 held up nicely, no issues. My wife already used hers for a work trip after we returned. I asked her why she wasn't using her nice hard shell luggage, she said she like this one better. She just returned from her trip and still shows no signs of wear. WOULD DEFINITIVELY recommend to anyone looking for a rugged, reliable piece of luggage that was just the right size for a 2 week trip. ... show more

    • Not quite the right carry-on size: 1" too much depth for Alaska Airlines

I had a perfectly fine travel roller bag but Alaska Airlines recently went to enforcing a new maximum carry-on bag size of 22'' x 14'' x 9'' - these dimensions include the wheels and handles. My previous bag was about 1 1/2" too long with the wheels. So I had to order this bag where they claimed the dimensions are 22 x 14 x 9. I just took the bag out of the box from Amazon and measured it. It seems that it is 22" x 14" x 10". So they are not quite right in their dimensions on Amazon. I can only hope that Alaska and other airlines do not get too picky by the extra inch of depth. ... show more

I'm giving 3 stars because I'm comparing the travel pro to my 5 year old Swiss Gear luggage which is still going strong. First off the build material is quality made however the design is idiotic/poor design. Travel pro could have easily made separated pockets instead of having just one giant pocket up front, the separated pockets allows users to separate items which results in finding items easier. Secondly when you have a handle on the side then you should have rubber feet or bumps on the opposite side so that when you place the luggage on its side it's residing on the rubber bumps, once again poor engineering design. Thirdly the skeleton of the travel pro has no reinforced structure built in and if there are any it's very weak, poor engineering design; my Swiss Gear has solid hard plastic structure in the inner fabric which gives structure and strength. The inner space is okay, but they could have made it a little bit deeper in depth. Overall it's an amateur luggage for beginners or teenagers, for business professionals I recommend looking at other brands. Just for the record even the current lineup of Swiss Gear is not that great either they have gone down dramatically in quality, the luggage I have from Swiss Gear is from a period where quality mattered not just planning obsolescence and high sale volumes. The travel pro is worth the price around $65 to $80, not more than that. Hope this review helps out. ... show more

Just fits maximum carry on bag requirements, lots of pockets, sturdy materials, good wheels. NO Spinners! - only about 15% of my travels involve rolling a bag across perfectly smooth polished terrazzo floors - the rest of the time is rough concrete, brick, stone, stairs, grass, snow, dirt.

My first Travelpro lasted nearly 15 years of heavy use. As a pilot, it endured many trips around the globe and the only maintenance I had to do on it was replace the wheels. Finally, when the handle broke, I decided to replace it and it was a no brainer I chose Travelpro again. I chose the 25" over my old 22" for the simple reason to eliminate a duffle back on trips more than 5 days, which we do frequently. Honestly, a 23" version of this back would have been ideal for my purposes. Then again, I'm now able to pack not only clothes and shoes, but often I'm able to pack my full photography bag as well, eliminating yet another bag to haul. My only warning would be this bag will not qualify as a carry-on on US airlines. So, if you hate checking your luggage, you'd best consider a smaller roller board. ... show more
