This is my second one… had the first for about 8 years, and mostly replaced it because the outside small pouch zipper started to catch and don’t want it breaking when I’m unprepared. Bought this for everyday use- NYC subway- but it’s also great for traveling. It’s very nice looking, well made sturdy but lightweight; enough room for a small laptop, a few items of clothing, some makeup, etc. Nice padded straps- I do sometimes wish it had a chest strap because if total weight once stuffed, but then it would look like more of a hiking item and not as sophisticated (for a backpack) as it looks. This version is even better than the first one: they made the water bottle pocket deeper (I have a tall metal water bottle that kept falling out unless tied to the backpack’s carry loop). The inside tablet pocket is taller than before, and the padding is thicker, sewn all the way in now so it won’t move around. In my first one the padding clumped at the bottom right away, and made the pocket kind of collapse. When going out, I always clip the zipper safety hooks onto the little D- rings, and it takes two hands plus some determination to undo them and open the pack. I feel very secure carrying my wallet, etc around in it, knowing someone cannot easily open it while on my back. Also love that the straps and body can’t be cut or damaged easily, due to the toughness of the fabric. The only improvement would be to make the small outer compartment have a two- way zipper (w/ locks on each side) for access- but that would likely compromise the security of the zipper… oh well. Great price, great little backpack, looks really nice- can’t go wrong here ... show more

    • 10+ Year Review - Extremely Durable, Right-sized, Practical (small) Backpack for Travel

I have had this backpack for over 10 years now (almost 11 years!) and it has held up remarkably well. I have traveled all over the world with it, including Afghanistan and Ukraine, and it is my go-to carry-on for the plane (fits easily under the seat). It’s large enough to hold a large iPad and plenty of other items for travel (portable power banks, charging cables, snacks, small books, and so on), including a water bottle on the side (and an additional water bottle in a second, zippered pocket). There is a nice interior pocket in the closing flap that I use for small electronics/airpods, flashlight, etc. The front pocket is very useful for smaller items. What has impressed me the most is that after more than a decade, it has really held up. I’ve overloaded it at times and used to often for travel, and yet it feels as good as it did new. No problems. Other bags I have had have suffered tears (particularly the straps) or rips over time. This one hasn’t had any issues at all. I prefer to buy once and keep something forever. That is what drove me to write this review - my satisfaction with a product that has gone the distance, and more. I have never had to test the anti-theft mechanisms built-in to the bag, thankfully, but in questionable areas, it is my go-to backpack with the two-handed pockets (zipper mechanisms), mesh, and interior cables. While this backpack is great for traveling (i.e., it fits under an airline seat and is fairly light and right-sized for city touring), it is not a full-sized backpack so if you are going camping or need to stow a lot of gear, you will probably need to look elsewhere. I bought this backpack at the last minute before a quick weekend trip. I had a checked bag, but wanted a personal item bag that easily stowed under the airplane seat, to put my purse, small toiletries, extra sweater, and headphones in. This was absolutely great. I love the neutral “nutmeg” color, the comfortable straps, the locking zippers and the outside pocket, that perfectly fit my Bose headphones. This was a 10 out of 10 for me. ... show more
