This set was purchased to replace a set of high quality luggage right before a 2-day trip. These are very initial impressions. First, the cases arrived without flaws and lasted their first round-trip (flights, cab, hotel) without anything breaking, tearing or scuffing up. The set of cases are totally functional with the compartments, storage, zippers, pockets and handles one would expect. They're attractive, and our orange color choice made it easy to spot in the sea of black and blue cases coming out of baggage claim. They're lightweight compared to our 13-year-old Samsonite set they replaced, but this makes them feel a bit flimsy and cheaply made. The extender handles are made of cheap feeling plastic. The extenders are made of very thin metal with a lot of slack & jiggle, which makes me feel they will be the first piece to break during the hustle of airport travel and in/out of ground transport. They don't feel solid or sturdy at all. Finally, the bags are very imbalanced when fully packed. They use two wheels instead of four, and the stand at the bottom isn't set correctly to balance the weight to the back wheels. The two bags tipped forward constantly. We had to repack in the terminal to shift some items lower to keep the center of gravity as low as possible, and that only put the bags barely back to balance. A stiff breeze would still push them over the top, falling forward. This is a very average set of affordable luggage, but I wouldn't repurchase after the tipping issue and cheaply made handles.

I ordered this bag to transport Christmas gifts and didn't want to review it until it made the round trip in checked baggage. It successfully made the trip with just one little mark on the back of the bag. No tears or rips and held 30+ pounds of clothing and gifts both ways. I would recommend this bag. The box it arrived in had seen some trouble (taped and torn), but the bag was fine when I unpacked it.

The bag was what I needed to house both folded & hung garments and other items. It has two tall inner corner pockets useful for my msc travel items. I could wedge my toiletry bag within the bag after packing all else. Two tall and wide pockets on the front provided room for some last minute “almost forgot” items. My wife convinced me that I needed a rolling bag for our cruise. After the long walk from the curb to our ship and return, I’m glad I listened. Sorry I didn’t take pics of the full bag after my departure or return. We were anxious to leave for the cruise & glad to get settled back home.

I own this bag in red. I purchased it about six years ago and have average about 4 trips per year with it. I am currently shopping for its replacement. Let me explain the things I love about it. I bought this as part of a patched set and appreciate this in my search of the baggage carousel. The bag’s construction is sturdy and the contents are well protected. There are cubbies or pouches in the most protected corners for safe storage of breakables; they WORK. It is spacious enough to hold a week’s worth of hanging clothes and still have room for everything else I need on a weeklong trip (shoes, toiletries, small clothes, chargers/cables, etc.). The interior shows no wear after 6 years of use all internal parts work as well today as the day I bought it. The telescoping handle is sturdy enough to work well with this bag and a carry-on bag attached to it. It extends to a comfortable height and does a good job controlling the bag while rushing to make a flight. The wheels likewise are large enough to roll well, even in the under-construction airports & airport parking lots which seem to litter our continent. This handle telescoped completely and stores inside a zippered pocket. This garment bag came with handles, a should strap, and the telescoping handle. Here are the things I would change about this piece of luggage. The design is such that when it falls over, it always false face down on the only colorful part of the bag. It makes the luggage one more anonymous black bag on the airport carousel. This also puts the most textured and decorative portion of the bag the side baggage handlers use to slide the bag, which has resulted in much wear and actual tear to the “Nice” side of the bag. The first trip I used the bag the shoulder strap broke. Looking at it later, the swivel snap portion seemed to be formed from a lesser quality metal than the other pieces of the strap and this is what broke. In all fairness I believe this was a quality control error made by the subcontractor from whom they purchased the hardware and not a reflection on Travel Select’s design or manufacture. I have used this bag more than any other in the set. I use it for business travel and vacation travel. It is more worn than any other piece in the set, as is should be. The positives far outweigh the negatives, and it is my “Go-to” luggage. If I could, I would change a few things about this garment bag. They are making this bag for a variety of people with a variety of needs and travel styles, so I would not try to correct the balance issue with the bag falling on its “Face”. I would make the entire bag the same color on all sides, I would select a less textured clothe (while it looks great, it snags on everything in baggage handling), make the metal tubing of the collapsible handle one gauge thicker, and add a check of hardware quality before using it on the luggage. In my current search for a replacement, I may end up buying a new copy of what I already own.

Most carry-on size roller bags these days sacrifice space for larger wheels or 4 wheels. The Travel Select bag is both great quality and provides the maximum amount of space for your packed items. We got 3 of these 10 years ago and those are still in service and in good shape with all zippers and wheels in perfect working order. Can’t go wrong with this bag! Picture shows new gray one on left and 10 year old orange on on right. So happy this is still being made! The burgundy one is identical to the one we bought a decade ago. With consistent quality and manufacturing being hard to find these days, Travel Select is the easy choice!

I really love the color, the look, the size. My one dislike is that it's quite tippy when packed. Unless placed quite deliberately, it is prone to tipping forward. The plastic on on the bottom should act more like a kick-stand and it doesn't.
