I recently purchased a Travelpro Maxlite 5 Softside Expandable 29-inch Luggage (on the right in the photo) for an upcoming trip and wanted to protect my brand new suitcase so I looked into these protectors. All reviews I read were from people who used them on hardside luggage, so I thought it might be helpful to hear how they fit on softsided luggage. When I measured the Travelpro Maxlite 5 it seemed like it was an inch or so larger than the dimensions of these suitcase covers, so I ordered a large and extra large. The large fits fine so I'll be returning the extra large. I also have a smaller, really cheap suitcase (on the left in the photo) that I got at a bargain store, and since I'm not sure it will stand up to airline travel, I wanted a cover for it too. I ordered the small for that suitcase and it also fits just fine. So far, the material of the covers seems somewhat thin, but the zipper at the bottom looks durable. We'll be flying across the country and then a 2 week road trip - so hopefully I'll remember to come back and post an update on how the protectors held up from that trip. One added bonus to putting these on a softsided suitcase is that all the outer pockets are covered, making it harder for anyone to open those pockets or for things to fall out of them.

I've used this for 2 round trips. I purchased the small for my carry on and it works great. It's stretchy and has a little bit of wiggle room so it's not too tight or too loose. I checked it for 3 one way flights and it held up pretty well. No holes in it yet. I will say that it took some wear on it. My luggage still ended up with some scuff marks where the cover didn't reach. It's easy to put on and take off. The only downside is that the top hole doesn't line up with the handle or extension handle. It covers them both. It's easy to reach in and grab but makes it awkward for those who don't know. There were zippers on the side for suitcases with a side handle. It seemed pretty durable and thicker than expected. Will continue to use until it fails me. I suspect the zipper and clasp at the bottom may fail after a few more round trips. I may update this later after some more trips.

Putting this cover over our suitcase makes it more difficult for anyone to easily access the contents. Also makes luggage eady to identify! And this cover takes all the beating endured by a suitcase inthe handling and transporting of it. Would prefer that it had one larger opening at the top so can more easily access pull handle as the holes it has dont line up.

I would have saved many pieces of luggage from airport damage if I had known about these earlier. Used this cover to travel to Europe - it saved my luggage from damage and was so easy to see when we needed to collect our bags!

I have not used it on a flight yet, so I will update after I do so. So far, I really like it. It’s a snug fit, but because there is a zipper on each side, it’s easy to put the sleeve over the suitcase, attach the bottom closures and then zip up the two sides for a snug fit. The bottom has both an elastic strap closure and a zipper for extra protection. There’s an opening on the top for both the handle and the telescoping handle. Everything about it is great. It is snug on my suitcase, so the color isn’t quite as crisp as in the product images, but that’s to be expected. I’m still happy with it. If it were loose, I would be afraid that it would snag on things and tear.

I got this to protect my suitcase and it has done it's job. I specifically picked them because they did not look pretty to me and thought it would be the best way to avoid anyone trying to take my luggage at the belt.

Overall this product ALMOST fit the requirement. The fabric was of good quality, the print was nice. The overall fit was good, although I did have to drop down one size below the suggested size for my 26" suitcase. The only problem is that the bottom strap broke on the first trip. Apparently the strap got caught on a conveyor belt somehow and literally tore the strap off. The sewing point connection to the strap survived, which is remarkable. Please see picture. That shows the quality of this cover. TSA may not have reconnected the strap's quick release buckle correctly. If they had, perhaps the strap would not have gotten caught. I do think I might purchase the same one again. Great price even with an improbable accident breakage.
