  • So far it’s a beast
Style: 2.5G PCIe Adapter(Newer Model)
I’m a tech, I beta test tech for various companies. So it’s natural for me to test each piece of tech I acquire. I have a custom built pc with the intel 13900, a 4090 gpu connected using 1gig up and down internet speeds. I started having throttling occur on upload, limiting me to 100meg upload speed. So I started troubleshooting, after a week of testing I decided the weakest link was the built in Ethernet adapter, others reported similar issues with my particular motherboard. So I ordered this unit, I’m always an overkill kind of guy with tech, so getting a 2.5g unit seemed appropriate. The unit arrived quickly, and was simple to install. It worked out of the box but of course I went to their website and upgraded drivers. First series of tests show my ping had been cut more than in half from 20 to 8. The speeds were faster slightly than before although a gig is a gig is a gig. That said, I soon encountered the exact same issue of throttled upload. I found it interesting that it seemed to throttle to 100megs give or take a few. At this time I recognized the issue was either my cable, modem or the actual line to my home. I replaced my Ethernet cord with a new one, and since fiber optic doesn’t usually degrade, it’s unlikely a line issue altho it could be a node issue down the line. Armed with the knowledge I had, I reached out and it was discovered my modem was failing. So even tho this unit didn’t specifically solve my issues, it did allow me to find the cause, and since it is a better ping, that to me is worth the cost of this card. Plus it gives me a backup connection if needed. I will be keeping this card and I will update once I get my new modem, and witness the difference real time. Should I encounter issues going forward I will also update this review. Ultimately I like this adapter, it’s super simple to install and use and it did improve my connection ping and speeds. If I ever use it to transfer data locally I will also post an updated review on that. ... show more

  • EZ quick XP install !! Amazon is selling/shipping current version of card (v4.6).
Style: Gigabit PCIe Adapter
TP-Link manufactures quality networking gear. Over recent years, I have relied on a TP-Link modem and I currently running TWO TP-Link routers, one as a 'root' router, the other as an 'extender/bridge' router. Always rock-solid and reliable. (I retired the TP-Link modem only because TP-Link does not manufacture a stand-alone DOCSIS 3.1 modem.) Note that there has been, over the years, four versions/itinerations of this (1 Gigabit PCI-Express) card. Sold and shipped by Amazon, I received Version 4.6 of the card. So Amazon is selling (direct) and shipping current stock. You can check the version of the card by looking at the label on the outside of the box … or at the sticker on the card. Oddly, the MAC address is not given on either the box or the card; if you need it, you will have to snag it out of your router's DHCP list. Installation into a WinXP SP3 w/ circa-2007 Intel mobo was quick and straightforward: All the drivers come in the box on a mini-CD but to be sure I would be current, I instead downloaded the most current Version 4 XP drivers from the TP-Link support webpage for the card. That was a .ZIP file; I extracted all the files into a temporary folder. Powered down the computer. Snapped the card into a vacant PCI-Express x 1 slot on the mobo. Powered back up and got the "Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard" pop-up. The XP driver install instructions provided by TP-Link (at their website) were very close, but not entirely 100% spot-on; if I recall correctly, from the pop-up I followed the path: InstallFromAListOrSpecificLocation Don'tSearchIWillChooseTheDriverToInstall HardwareType (choose NetworkAdapter) Don't bother to choose a specific adapter from the given list, instead click on HaveDisk, then Browse (to the .inf file in the temporary folder), then Open it. Click on OK. Ignore incorrect driver warnings and click ContinueAnyway. (I think the warning is being 'thrown' by the fact that the TP-Link card is built on a Realtek chip & drivers.) Bam! Device and drivers installed. Device is named 'TP-Link Gigabit PCI Express Adapter.' The three needed driver files were dropped into the Windows/System32 folder. Swapped the Ethernet cable onto the card. Opened ControlPanel/NetworkConnections. Disabled the mobo Ethernet port, renamed it 'Mobo Ethernet.' Enabled the TP-Link Ethernet port, renamed it 'TP-Link Ethernet.' Deleted the temporary folder. Rebooted the router, just to be sure. Up and running !! I didn't pick up the download speed improvement I was hoping for, but I've definitely excluded the Ethernet port as a speed constraint. (Paying for 1Gb, pulling 220Mb … time to get a techie out here to test the speed at the coax connector!) In any case, this card is very inexpensive … and it is also a quick, easy solution under XP and older mobos. ... show more

  • It Just Works
Style: 2.5G PCIe Adapter(Newer Model)
It does what it's supposed to. I used wifi to download the drivers from the TP Link website (it comes with a disc but I have no disc drive), installed those, then finally plugged the ethernet cable in. Works without issue and I have no problem hitting max speed.

  • Needed for IPV6
Style: 2.5G PCIe Adapter(Newer Model)
My 11 year old Dell Inspiron PC could not handle IPV6 with the Ethernet adapter on the motherboard. It took several tries before Windows 10 would start when I installed the card, and I had to use the drivers on the CD to get it to work. I had a full head of hair before I got involved with computers. Now the PC works properly with IPV6 on all websites. ... show more

  • Easy to install and wicked fast!
Style: 2.5G PCIe Adapter(Newer Model)
It couldn't have been easier to swap out the smaller bracket. Tested it on Windows 10, Debian Bookworm, and Proxmox 8 and every single one of them worked out of the box. Awesome card!

  • Works well with gigabit internet
Style: 2.5G PCIe Adapter(Newer Model)
While I cannot speak for the full 2.5GB of this card it does work well a gigabit speeds. The chipset is a realtek (RTL8125). I used the driver from the realtek website which was from august of this year. It did work out of box if you needed to do a clean windows install but I recommend updating the driver. Turn off the power saving stuff like green internet and gigabit lite in device manager. ... show more

  • A good nic for a good price
Style: Gigabit PCIe Adapter
I was setting up a server for home security which required a second network card. This TP-Link 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express Network Adapter Card (TG-3468) is a simple install and is immediately recognized by any OS. It just works at a reasonable price
