This is a great toy that is engaging and provides lots of different activities. I chose it for a 4-year-old who loves cars and enjoys putting things together. He loved it! He was excited from the first moment he saw it and immediately wanted to start working on it. There were moments of frustration as he worked with an adult to assemble it, but overall it kept his attention and he seemed to enjoy it. He also got a kick out of making the lights, horn, and alarm turn on! The downside is that the instructions are useless. You really have to rely on the pictures and sort of use them in reverse because the pictures illustrate how to take it apart and not how to put it together. Our 4 year old daughter loves working in the shop with her daddy. This was perfect for her. This is a cute car set up with easy to take off and put on pieces. Has working noises, comes with tools, parts and keys.

This was perfect for my grandson, he is 1 1/2 and loves taking things apart. This is perfect for him, it's not overwhelmingly big, it's perfect for small hands beginning to use tools.

    • Great for curious kids
I got this for my daughter who is 4. Anytime I'm working on things, she always wants to be right there helping. So last Christmas i got her a small set of real tools. Since then, she has proceeded to try taking apart everything in the house she can, just to see how it works. So when i saw this toy, i just had to get it for her. She loves it. It has tons of screws to put in and take out along with lots of parts. The old school toys like this where it was just a flat peice of plastic with holes for the screws was too boring to keep kids engaged. When you feel like you're taking something real apart and fixing it, it really helps keep the kids engaged and using their imagination. When putting it together the first time, the instructions leave a lot to be desired though. They go through telling you how to disassemble everything even though you are assembling it, so it's a little weird. It's not a big issue except for a few spots. When it gets to the step about "removing" bolts for the grill, I couldn't find the grill peice in the pile of parts. It took a bit to realize that the grill was not a part, but a sticker you had to put on and the bolts had nothing to do with that part. Then halfway through everytime it says "remove" you really were finding that part in the pile and installing it...i got to the part of the engine. Once again, couldn't find and thought it was missing (not helped by the small, hard to see pictures) until i realized this part was one of the few already installed. Once it's together, the instructions don't matter and it wasn't the worst thing, just could have been done better. In the end though it's a great toy that I'm hoping will keep the rest of my house from being taken apart. ... show more

My son LOVES cars whether they’re hot wheels or real cars but he’s never had an ‘engine’ and car he can actually work on and he thinks this is the coolest thing - not to mention his own set of keys finally. He’s had this for a couple of months and still plays with it nearly daily and that’s saying a lot since most toys only get a week and he’s mostly done with them. There are SO many different things he can do with this and it leaves him endlessly entertained. The book that comes with it both as instructions and a kind of how-to manual for the different parts, are detailed and really helpful both to me when I set it up and him now using it, would definitely recommend. ... show more
