  • Good book for kids with easy to follow step by step instructions
I got this book for my 7 year old who has jumped aboard the speeding Rainbow loom train. I was tired of having to hand over my laptop to constantly look up You Tube videos on how to make these bracelets and wanted him to have a instructions on paper he can refer to when he wanted to. We are very happy with it - it has some different basic bracelets, fishtail, starburst, triple band bracelet. It also has some accessories (charm, earrings, belt). The book is bright with step by step instructions and photos which is very helpful Definitely worth it for any rainbow loom fan! ... show more

  • Helpful book for the beginner
This was a pretty good book for beginners. It might appeal much more to a girl than a boy as far as design - some are more girly and feminine in style, but there are several that boys would like. My 3 boys learned a couple of new designs they hadn't learned from the kids at school already. It shows all the basics, plus some unique patterns, how to use the loom, etc. Like I said, great for beginners - not sure how much more detailed or complicated band jewelry could get, so it's probably most of what you'd need to know while learning, then you can improvise and use your imagination to build on what you learn in this book - that's what my kids are doing now. I got one for my boys, and another for my 12 year old niece - she loved it too. ... show more

  • Nice colorful step my step pics
Book seems easier to follow than others. Yes, there are TONS of tutorials on YouTube. But not everyone has online access at home (or it's limited) so this book can be useful for people to use anytime and anywhere. I got this book for my Goddaughters and then I decided to try this looming stuff and I got myself the spiral bound official looking "Rainbow Loom" book. This book seems easier to follow without having to go online. Of course finding tutorials online helps but this book has a lot of ideas to keep kids busy for awhile ... show more

  • Nice colorful book...
I like the book. It's nice and colorful. I had been concerned when ordering it because the cover says that the designs included would be for the Rainbow Loom, Cra-Z-Loom, and the FunLoom. Since we only have the Rainbow Loom, I was concerned that maybe only 1/3 of the designs in this book we would be able to use. But, I was happy that all of the designs are shown on the Rainbow Loom. A picture of the other looms is only shown near the beginning of the book, but all step-by-step photos are shown on the Rainbow Loom. The book shows you how to make these designs: Basic Bracelet, Fishtail Bracelet, Triple the Fun Bracelet, Back and Forth Bracelet, Zipper Bracelet, Flower Charm, Hand and Foot Accessories (I'm not crazy about the foot chain), Starburst Bracelet, Dangling Earrings, and Hippie Belt. The book is nice to give you some ideas about color choices for the different projects. They do try to show you step-by-step...buuuut, it is difficult for my 10 year old to use the book. She's just learning making bracelets on the Rainbow Loom, so most of the designs are new to her. It's a bit hard for her to follow the book to make a bracelet style that she's never done before. She was getting frustrated. I think if I went through the instructions with her, we could probably figure it out together. But, I haven't had time to sit and read the instructions in the book. Instead, we went to the Rainbow Loom website and now she watches the videos there. They are great videos because they show you step-by-step, and talk you through each one, from beginning to end. Again, the book is nice to give you some ideas, or if you are on the go and away from a computer...but seeing the videos online is much easier to follow, at least for my daughter. The Rainbow Loom website has videos for making 51 different bracelets. Definitely bookmark that page and use that to learn how to make the different styles of bracelets. [...] ... show more

  • No mistakes in the steps and lots of pictures
I tried samples of a couple different books. One had missing steps in the instructions for the very first bracelet. It was maddening. And other books skimped on pictures and had poorly written steps. This book (Totally Awesome Rubber Band Jewelry...) has had no mistakes in the steps for the bracelets (I haven't tried the non-bracelet items yet). I made every bracelet in one night. The designs are great, and pretty, and for each pattern, they present you with three color schemes, which make the bracelets with the same pattern look very different. What I like best is the color-coded diagram for each of the three color schemes for each of the designs. These diagrams help you "cast on" the elastics really quickly and accurately. The steps were written well, and used consistent phrasing. Plus, there were plenty of pictures, making it easy to spot where I went wrong if I made a mistake. Also, some bracelets had mini-diagrams to summarize a set of steps that get repeated. The only con is that the sample of the book that you can download (on Kindle) doesn't even get to the first pattern--you only get to see the preliminary material, which is very useful, but doesn't allow people to try out making a bracelet. ... show more

  • Fun bracelets
This book has fun bracelets to make with lots of step by step pictures and instructions. Some bracelets are complicated so I still need to read it to help my daughter, age 9, make the more difficult bracelets. One word of warning-we bought the rainbow loom, and it is backwards from the instructions in the book so after a couple confusing hours of following instructions and not understanding why they weren't working, we figured out how to use the book with our loom. ... show more

  • excellent book
I bought this book for my 8 year old grandson, who enjoys crafts and had made simple bracelets. The directions in this book are very detailed, the graphics clear, and the steps small and easy to follow. With just a little help at first, he was soon making fancy bracelets by himself. The book is obviously aimed at girls mostly (there is a boy on the cover), but he didn't care because we didn't. Even my son enjoyed helping. Highly recommended. ... show more
