Description

TotalBoat Polyester Structural Repair Putty is ideal for boat building and repair applications where high-strength structural bonding is critical, such as hull to deck, stringers to hull, liner to hull, and bonding bulkheads. It’s also great for bonding dissimilar composite, fiberglass, wood and metal parts. Its unique combination of high-strength polyester resin and long strand milled glass fiber provides maximum crack and impact resistance in large masses. Just bang it on in one big shot and it holds its shape well as it hardens. This fast-setting marine filler spreads smoothly, is quick to take a radius, and can be built up quickly without sagging. Perfect for fast, easy repairs to fiberglass parts, molds, hulls, decks, canoes, kayaks, runabouts, and more.Polyester Structural Repair Putty is waterproof and great for filling cracks, holes, chips and dents in fiberglass and gelcoat, above or below the waterline. This polyester putty is designed for structural bonding, not cosmetic fairing. For repairs requiring a smooth, easy-to-sand finish, apply TotalBoat Polyester Fairing Compound over Polyester Structural Repair Putty. After the fairing compound cures, sand smooth to prepare for gelcoat, such as TotalBoat Gelcoat with wax, or paint, such as TotalBoat Wet Edge topside paint. If you’re not overcoating the putty with fairing compound, you need to add an air-dry agent such as paraffin wax (4 oz. of wax per gallon of putty) or apply PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) over it. Putty comes with MEKP catalyst (use 1-2% MEKP). This economical, general-purpose, fiberglass filler can also be used to fill joints in sheet metal and fill cracks & voids in wood, masonry, and concrete, making it ideal for automotive, rv and home repair. Compare to Merton's Hull and Deck, 3M Marine High Strength Repair Filler, FGCI Polyester Putty, and Bondo Long Strand Fiber Reinforced Filler. All TotalBoat products provide great value and great results. 100% made in the USA.

  • Very good and strong
Size: Quart Kit
I’m amazed that you can build Door edges with this on a Corvette. It’s very strong and it does really well and feeling cracks and holes instead of using plastic fillers.

  • Goes on smooth, stays put and doesn't run, dries extremely hard!
Size: Quart Kit
After I reinforced a hole in the hull with fiberglass and resin, there was still a low spot. I figured it would take forever to keep filling it in with resin, plus the resin is extremely runny so it is hard to get it to stay in the low spot. I came across this putty and out of the can it is extremely workable, not runny, does not sag and stay put. Even mixing in the liquid hardener does not effect it or make it runny. I applied it to the hull and it literally took one coat and evened the low spot out. I mean it goes on so smooth, and you have plenty of time to work with it before it starts to get tacky. The price is very fair compared to other stuff like Bondo which they say you don't want to use for these types of repairs. I have yet to sand it, but it is extremely hard and nothing an orbital sander can't handle. Hope this review helps as I was going back and forth on what fiberglass to use. ... show more

  • Good stuff.
Size: Quart Kit
This stuff is good. Cures really hard. Mixture ratio is a bit hard to find. I mixed by weight. But once cured it’s hard. Used it for a fiberglass hole repair. It’s harder then the original

  • Filling the gap.
Size: Quart Kit
This works great for what I need. A bit difficult in sanding it down a bit but works well in filling the gaps

  • Easy to Use, Cures Strong - Love it
Size: Quart Kit
I love this putty. I use to fix dings, splits and cracks in the hull. It’s great for filling screw holes that were stripped and no longer able to mount hardware with screws. It doesn’t drip which makes it much easier to work with. The volatile organic compound odor is very intense. Definitely either wear a VOC filter mask or work in an area with a lot of ventilation. It is hard to sand precisely so try to avoid using excess material. If you need precise sanding, you’ll need a fairing coat. ... show more

  • Great for fiberglass repair
Size: Quart Kit
I used this to repair the fiberglass on our motor home after an accident. It worked amazingly, and saved me countless dollars by doing the repair myself. Wear a good mask because this stuff is strong.

  • Easier to work with than I thought it would be
Size: Quart Kit
First time using this type of filler. Cure time was predictable. Mixed easily on my board. Spread smoothly. Where I did have some unevenness I was able to fill after initial curing Minimal sanding, great finish. Been over a year out in the weather. No pitting, cracking or shrinkage
