I like these books, as I have bought larger ones in the past, and I rough them up too quickly before i finish using the whole book. These are just right, as I finish the book per the amount of abuse I dish out to them.

MY ORIGINAL REVIEW REFLECTED THE FIRST BATCH I OPENED UP, WHICH WERE DEFECTIVE. I DIDN'T GET AROUND TO RETURNING THE OTHER ONES, AND IT TURNED OUT THAT THE OTHER BATCHES WERE OKAY. I have raised my review to a 3. I go through 1 spiral bound notebook per month. I noticed that these look different from the last batch of Oxford spiral bound notebooks I bought, but didn't think much of it until I started using one today. It will neither lie flat when open nor when you flip the pages behind. Upon closer inspection, the wire binding, which normally ends with a loop that makes it stick to the back cover or float, is set such that it sticks to the back cover at the top and the front cover at the bottom. Thus, the front cover and pages cannot spiral around 360 like they can on every other spiral notebook you ever bought. Looks like they are saving 1/2 inch of metal, and completely defeating the usefulness of the spiral binding. It is now worse than a composition book, which at least lies flat open. I have resorted to using needle nose pliers to fiddle with the loop at the bottom so that it doesn't drive me crazy every minute. But a) I am concerned the open loop will scratch things b) it still is not exactly right ... show more

These are really nice and good quality, but just be aware that these are bigger than the normal notepads you will buy.
