My highest praise for this is for the durable-feeling material. This is my third laptop backpack (I've kept my first two for multiple years), and this one's material feels more durable than either. Of my first two packs, I really hated one. This new pack doesn't have any of the things that made me hate it. Primarily, it was that the bag was kind of floppy and didn't have a well-defined shape when empty. This one (I'll start referring to it as the x-pac) absolutely does, which makes it easier to put anything in it and to access and utilize the outer zippers. The second highest praise is for this: The zippers have cords on them with rubberized ends, which is a great detail--my previous pack, the one I didn't hate, had tabs on the zippers which broke over time, and it eventually was a pain to zip open/closed the pockets, which is the only reason I ever replaced it. I think these zippers will last because of these protections--it's clear they thought about the zipper life when they designed the x-pac. I like the bright orange insides of the x-pac. I never realized before, but it is a challenge to find anything in my old pack, and the bright interior makes this easier. It has 2 outer zippered pockets, spanning the entirety of the back of the pack (largest side). It has a water bottle pocket on one side and a zippered side pocket on the other with 2 pockets inside, one of which is zippered. Inside the 2 main compartments, there are various sized pouches and pockets, it's a great variety, with 2 zippered pockets inside--a crucial need in my book. The x-pac is comfortable on my back, and has a full size clip connection in front (the pack I hated had this really small clip which I always struggled to get clipped). It feels fairly lightweight for it's durability. One small criticism: The bottom padding, for protecting your laptop if you drop this on the floor, set it on a desk, etc., is only existent in one of the main compartments, in 2 of the sleeves. This is understandable as it protects your laptop and maybe a tablet in the next pouch, but I wish there was bottom protection in the whole thing--I sometimes travel with 2 laptops, controllers, speakers, etc. that I would like to protect. Any pack I've seen, however, only has the padding where the laptop is "supposed" to go.

I typically love TomToc products - I find that they are well made and thought through in terms of functionality. I think all that applies to this backpack as well but from a design / look perspective, this particular backpack just did not work for me. The squared off shape really gives off school vibes while I'm looking for something for casual / some business travel. Additionally, over time, as the brand has grown, the pricing of TomToc products has gotten high. I love the quality of their products but it now seems like they are taking advantage of some of the consumer love by pricing at multiples of what may be justified
