Description

The classic Alpargata is our canvas slip-on that started it all For TOMS. It's pleated toe and single elastic v gore makes for easy on and off. TOMS Shoes was founded in 2006 by Blake Mycoskie. The shoe is a unique slip-on design comprised of clean lines and lightweight fabrics in vibrant colors and prints. TOMS was founded when Blake was inspired on a trip to Argentina by the traditional, rope-soled Argentine "alpargata." He was struck by the poverty and health issues of the country, and set out to reinvent the alpargata for the U.S. market, and in doing so to accomplish one goal: Making life more comfortable for those without shoes. To realize this purpose, Blake made a commitment to match every pair of TOMS purchased with a donation of a pair to a child in need. It's simple: If you buy a pair of TOMS, the company will give a pair to someone in need on your behalf. During its first year in business, TOMS sold 10,000 pairs of shoes, and Blake returned to Argentina to lead his first annual Shoe Drop during which he donated to the children who had inspired him. TOMS Shoes are now available in multiple colors and fabric combinations for men, women and a recently introduced line for children, aptly titled Tiny TOMS.

Just purchased my 3rd pair of Tom’s. They are what they are. Comfortable, convenient, and low maintenance. Nice shoe to throw on quick for something casual. I will however never purchase a pair of Tom’s at full price. They are NOT a $60, $50, or even $45 pair of shoes. If you can get them on sale for around $40 or under, I think they are worth it. They last about a year before the heels blows out. I then make them my house shoes and buy a new pair when they go on sale again. And the cycle continues… ... show more

I have admired these slip ons ans the Toms brand but thought they are too narrow for my wide feet. I wear womens size 12 and ordered a mens size 11 d. The length fits but still not wide as I would like. I have placed a shoe stretcher in them and will be wearing. I hope in the future Toms will cater to wide feet. ... show more

These shoes are soooo comfortable. They’re like wearing slippers in public, but look basically like a standard shoe. I normally wear 14 in mens, they only had 13 in the kind I wanted so I tried the 13 and they did actually fit just fine for me. So the sizes may be a bit big. Zero complaints. I love TOMS, simply because of how darn comfortable they are. No, these aren't sport shoes with lots of grip and support. I would never wear them while riding my motorcycle. But as a stylish, comfortable shoe for every day use? You can't go wrong. I personally find that TOMS fit pretty well. I normally wear a size 8 or 8.5, and I get my TOMS in a size 8. They start out feeling a little tight, but soon become molded to your feet. They're like your favorite pair of socks, but with soles on the bottom! The only downside about the Classics are their lack of durability. I find that TOMS classics will last me about a year before they're simply too worn out to wear anymore. The sole wears down pretty fast, the heel section of the insole wears away (I walk a bit heavily on my heels, though), and the toe area of the shoe gets blown out. As I said, mine usually last me about a year, and that was while I was at college walking everywhere in them. ... show more

The shoes came the first day that it said it would come on the list of days it said it would be here. Came wrapped in plastic everything was in good condition. The shoes were fine as well. When I tried on the shoes the only problem that I had was that they seemed to be a tad bit large. I ordered a 13 and they seem to be a 13.25, if that exist anywhere. When I would walk the back would lift up like I'm wearing sandals. But when I tried it with socks on the problem was fixed. Meaning that it wasn't as bad as before. But overall the shoes are nice and comfortable and I don't have any other complaints. ... show more

    • Very Narrow; Split when I tried to stretch them

Until recently I had never bought Toms because they are just so narrow. But I was recently in a wedding and was asked to wear Toms (way better than heels) so I had to get a pair. The pair I got for the wedding I was able to stretch out the toe box using a shoe stretcher and they fit perfectly, so I decided to get a 2nd pair (these). But where the ones I had before stretched perfectly using a shoe stretcher these split right up the middle at the base of the elastic on both shoes. So its hit or miss I guess... ... show more
