  • Value, quality, intelligent design, excellent customer service
I ordered this press a little over 2 1/2 years ago. To date, I have loaded more than 8,000 rounds with it. I load 9mm, 45ACP, 22-250,.223rem, .243win and 25-06 - it handles all of those different cartridges with ease. This press hasn't given me any trouble other than very minor issues with the primer arm hanging up. But, If you clean the spent primer crud out and lube the press every 500 rounds, it'll work like new. The parts that rotate the turret are original and still going strong. I'm happy with how well this press has been wearing. When it was new, tolerances were tight enough that I couldn't feel any play in the ram or linkage, now it's starting to loosen up but still feels tight. I'm guessing it might need a rebuild somewhere around 15k rounds. I've spend a lot of quality time with this press and I'm very impressed by the design. I questioned the wooden ball for a handle but now, after using it, wood is the right material for the job. The adjustable clamp for the lever arm allows you to change the arm length to suit the amount of force needed for different cartridges - I set it up short for pistol cartridges where low force and high repetition speed is ideal. Or, you can make the arm longer when you need more force to resize smaller quantities of large rifle brass. It's apparent, to me, that Lee that has done an excellent job of balancing quality vs. cost. Yes, there are some plastic parts on this press but I have found that they are suitable to meet the design criteria. You could spend more money on a press but I don't see the reasoning for it. My rifles routinely shoot <1" groups at 100 yards so there is no question about the press's ability to make consistent ammo. ... show more

  • Very impressed
I just started reloading. Everyone's advice was to go with a single stage but this was so inexpensive I decided to just go for it and I'm glad I did! This press is incredibly versatile and I'm currently using it for .40 S&W and .308 Win and eventually plan to go to 6.5 Creedmoor. The turret easily lifts off and you can change out the die set (just purchase a separate turret and die set), no fuss, no readjusting the dies. Within an hour, I had the press mounted to my workbench, assembled (Only parts to assemble are a bolt for the lever/handle with a 1/2 inch wrench, insert the primer seat, primer catch tube and shell holder), dies installed and adjusted and I was up and running! The action is smooth and only required a little extra effort with .308, I'm assuming due to the length of the brass. Pistol cases were smooth as silk and you can easily crank out several hundred rounds in an hour once you get into the rhythm of it. ... show more

  • Great value, IF the price is right.
I have no idea how Amazon has managed to mix a wallet with an ammunition reloading press, but they have. Half way through the description of the press, everything becomes information about a wallet and the question and review section are completely mixed together. Anyway my review is for the press and has nothing to do with the wallet. It's a Lee Classic Turret and as pretty much all reviews have made clear over the past decade, it's built like a brick ****house. It works perfectly and there are no surprises to be found. I'll leave specifics to already established reviews and focus on getting it from Amazon. Normally (meaning not during pandemic and panic buying), this press can be found almost anywhere for a little over a hundred bucks. Anywhere but Amazon that is. Normally Amazon's price is 30% more than anybody else. I managed to see it on a sale here, that was less than everyone else. A very rare thing, but too good to pass up. My only real complaint was the shipping. The primary shipping box was open. I mean they didn't bother to seal the top of the box. They put a wee bit of tape on the ends, and that was all. The box was just plain opened because the small bits of tape broke because a 20 pound press slid around and popped it open. It slid around because there wasn't enough packing material in it. They only put some on one side of the box and that's it. The inner box (which the press is actually in), had some pretty severe damage and ruptures because of the sliding around. Amazingly, nothing was lost or damaged. The press and it's parts were perfectly intact and went together without problems. I needed this classic press for making larger belted magnum rounds like 30 06, 7.62x54r, 303, and 6.5x55. My value turret made them, but requires disabling the auto indexing and manually tilting the case and bullet into the die. The value turret is an inch shorter in capacity and that really limits it to pistol and carbine ammo. That includes the current model released in 2018 which is made almost entirely out of steel. It's fantastic value but limited in the size of the ammo it can make with auto indexing. This cast iron classic turret has a less ergonomic handle, and is heavier that is necessary because it's cast iron. Lee should have dropped this model and the old aluminum value turret and replaced them both with the steel value turret with an extra inch of capacity. Increased strength, lighter weight, longer life, and more ergonomic because of the angled roller handle. ... show more

  • Great reloading value
Lee fan here. I have been using their products since I started loading my own several years ago. There will always be folks with a "Big Blue" or "Green" bias and if you want to spend 3 or 4 times as much to start your journey be my guest. I own a "green" press as well. This press will do everything you need, particularly in pistol calibers, and do it well. Just get an add on light to verify your powder drop and you're set. I am installing my light today! I started with the value turret so it was simple to upgrade to this one since I already have numerous turrets set up with the calibers I load. I upgraded because I wanted the options available with this press that weren't available with mine, namely the reverse rotation product made by inline fabrication. I am very happy I made the switch! ... show more
